15w40 works fine if doing a lot of towing and it’s Amsoil full synthetic because synthetic goes where no other oil will and it’s the best for heat .

The emissions on a diesel is enough to make you switch to gas that’s why I bought a 05 when new with no emissions on my 5.9 cumalong .

I did the same thing to my Ford, went to 5w40 with more zinc, 1200ppm from epa 5w30 800 ppm zinc, great for wear protection and fuel dilution on my ecoboost

Put 10-30 in it. A small change like that it won’t matter at all. Just service it 3-5K, & the engine will out live the truck itself.

Honestly. The Ford motorcraft one is pretty good. That's the one I would recommend right now.

My transmission is like yours 18k on it. I have a 21 7.3. I think there doing a better job of programming them now.

Tell the helper to never ever leave the safety foil half peeled on the container when pouring; It drops in the engine, blocs an oil passage and spins a crank bearing=toast!😂
