I used to love my cineworld unlimited subscription. At the time I subscribed I was living in the city, hated my flat mates and used the card as a way to escape. I lived 10 minutes away from the cinema. I watched 2-3 films a week for over a year and had a blast. If you’re like I was I’d highly recommend it.

I went twice a month, it was great. When a film was rubbish I didn't care. I just enjoyed getting out the house on random evenings to engage in a film.

As someone who had ODEON MyLimitless last year, I have a couple points to add. Firstly, I would argue one of the main factors are the films themselves. Of the 40 I saw, I probably would've only gone to see around 10 without the membership. And looking at the schedule for 2024, I wasn't convinced there would even be as many as that this year - subsequently hearing that the writer's strike has pushed a lot of projects into 2025. On the other hand, my favourite thing about the membership was simply that it encouraged me to get out the house in the evenings and give something my full attention for a few hours. Even the worst film I saw beats a forgettable night in. In summary, although it's impossible to definitively calculate the value proposition, if you're willing to reframe it as a cultural and mental health membership (akin to how a gym membership motivates you to keep fit), it's priceless.
