Another difference is traction...the square have more traction in mud&snow. In my case I have a CJ-3B with 600-16 non directional mil. tires. They were new in 1965 and used to this day [no dry rot] thay are "well worn round" they were square when new [as told from the previous owner who installed them] traction declined to poor in snow and ice. In my opinion the round are "highway" and the square are "mud&snow" Just like Pie R round and corn bread R square lol!

If you are looking for the correct original tire for your jeep, the round shoulder tire is the correct tire for M-38 and M-38A1 and all other jeeps non-directional tires came with the square shoulder tires.

And that is what I purchased for the rims I bought from you guys. I also may pull my m-38 with a tow bar. I have no idea but have feedback it’s a wee bit better than square. Just imho 😊

Wish the video would have gone more in-depth on when the military used the tires and why they changed.

Agreed. Maybe a little on price difference, on road vs off road, military vs CJ use, what’s the overall height of these, what does the 6.00 mean, etc. What questions to answer can be posted on social media prior to making a video which would also create more awareness.

I have a 61 Willys cj5. With 700x16. Is there a radial equivalent i can replace them with?

Not really, radial tires come in a different size configuration. Bias are narrow and tall, radial are wide and short. The closest tire I can think of is a 205/75r16 or something similar, which would be 8 inches wide 6 inches tall, a 7.00 tire is 7 inches tall 7 inches wide. So it'll make the ride a little more stiff, but not too bad. The wider you go, the worse it gets and if you go wide enough it might rub.
