12 жыл бұрынWhen the very tall, NBA, basketball star, Wilt Chamberlain was tapped to do a commercial for the pint sized VW Beetle people must have thought the ad agency had made a mistake. But Volkswagen proved that a little self deprecating humor could go a long way. That's the long and the short of it. Couldn't resist.

I remember seeing this commercial back then on television. Sort, sweet, and to the point. Advertising at its best. . FYI - Both players are in the Basketball Hall of Fame. If there was such a HOF for cars, the VW Beetle would be a member.

A '66 Beetle wasn't going to do it for Wilt, he needed a '79 Rabbit.

The point of the commercial is, 99.9% of the market is not taller than 6ft 6. Watching Wilt Chamberlain try to stuff his 7-foot one body into the VW is the funny part. However, watching six-foot-six Billy Cunningham jumping and drive away very quickly without any issues is meant to reassure everyone else that if he can do it, they surely can because they are almost certainly smaller than 6 foot 6.
