Winching Out a Ryder Box Truck in DEEP Mud. While this isn't my typical super crazy rollover or container job, I had lots of fun with this one. The truth is smaller jobs like this are done all day every day, and I've been getting lots of positive feedback from you guys on posting more. So as long as you guys request it, I'll keep posting more of these small jobs.
This winch out was done a couple weeks ago right after SoCal got hit with some heavy rain due to Hurricane Hilary. Hulk, my 2020 50ton rotator, is a very heavy girl lol. It would have been difficult to not only back up into this area, but dangerous due to the ground and mud. It was an easy choice to just throw my boom off to the side and winch out. The benefit of this is my boom height allowed the rear to be lifted at the same time to clear all the wood they had cribbed up.
Once I cleared the make shift wooden ledge, I was able to winch it out in a controlled path and once free, the driver was able to take it the rest of the way. Short and sweet, but still fun. Hope you guys enjoyed!

Attaching to a welded liftgate support isn't the brightest Idea, Josh. While it might be an expedient way, it can also pull that entire liftgate off of that truck. The reason I say that was it happened to Budget Truck Rental in Fort Walton Beach, FL. We found that if you attached to a solid area of the rear axel iit worked better. You got lucky although it also looked like the liftgate was raised above the flat area isn't.
@PepesTowingService

Zero chance of harm. I mean you can literally see at the end. Attaching to where you said wasn’t a good option here because I didn’t just need a horizontal pull I needed a vertical one to clear the wood.

Definitely need to be careful pulling from those points. We once had a truck like that and it got stuck in a snow bank. We pulled straight out from the same spot and ripped that bracket that goes up at an angle right out of the frame. 😮

@PepesTowingService 9 ай бұрын
That’s exactly what I went over in my video. It was in mud yes but not buried like a snow bank. That much force would do damage but as you can see here I used the mud to my advantage to float it up and slide it out in neutral. The fact it wasn’t loaded helped too

I love when people without a clue comment dumb numbers like that. Why would Ryder even call me if I charged even half that ? I personally drive a rotator so every single call I respond to is in a rotator of course. Doesn’t mean I charge rotator rates for every job. I’m VERY competitive with my account rates. If I wasn’t, I wouldn’t have hundreds of accounts.

@Dan68J
@Dan68J 9 ай бұрын
@@glennjukes5581 I know it's not an M100. Josh was telling us how long the boom would be out if it was one. Miller can think their chest all they want but the M100 that have towing capabilities it's only a T-Bar as far as I know. It's big and I'm sure it's a super recovery machine but most places can't afford just a recovery unit, and while you can tow with a T-Bar in MHO it's not the same as having an underreach.

Say what you want. That was not a recovery point. You need to hook to the frame or axles. Never pull from a liftgate. Never. There's only a few bolts that hold that on. First time seeing the videos and the last
