That's a lot of weight when packed in wagons like that. Better you then me if you get a flat. We chop on a lot more hills. And haul on rds. I would never load them that full. Have a good one mike. Looking forward to the rest of harvest

Really enjoy watching your videos. They bring back to mind a lot of good memories of when I was younger and able to do things. Never did drive a tractor with a cab. I think they call those other ones "open station" now. That was a term never used when I was a kid, cause they were all out in the air, but it was a good time in my life... and I appreciate you reminding me of things that I've missed for so long. The cows will love all the feed. Harvest is going well and you'll appreciate not having to worry about running out of feed. Continued good luck and stay safe.

Great Video Mike. I feel like i have only been following you for a short time! puting silage into the towers is new for me, i assume that the natural compaction preserves the silage and hence why you chop some and come back later and add more, thanks for sharing
@mikep78102 ай бұрын
Yes, once the silage is in the silo it will compact and settle. That's why we will open it back up and add to it
@MorganOtt-ne1qj8 ай бұрын
Ahh, upright silo's🤬. I always ran the chopper, but I also had to climb the outside to unplug the pipe or adjust the distributor (Dad didn't like the no cage ladder), so I often went back and forth. We had top unloaders, so then I had to fork them level. Don't miss that one bit. Great video, love the panorama views from the top!
@mikep78108 ай бұрын
I don't miss the top unload silos at all. I remember when the silo unloader broke and I became the silo unloader

Your getting closer to a good place, having harvest complete. Our harvest completed with picking the hazlenuts (Filberts), their in the drier. Unfortunately in shell size was down this year, and market is weak, but orchard grass hay, especially in small squares, market is strong so we should be in descent shape. Hoping things keep running well! Nick, North West Farmer (Oregon)
@mikep78108 ай бұрын
Thanks Nick. Glad to hear the market is going strong for you

Another thumbs up video Mike. Get that silo filled and then fill it again. I'll be watching for the combine videos. You know I always remind you to be safe because things happen fast and without warning. Just the other day one of the farmers in our area was moving round bales one got away and rolled him over. Hurt him pretty bad. Just take that extra second or two to be safe
@mikep78108 ай бұрын
Thank you Scott. I appreciate the reminder to be safe. I'll try not to get too cocky and hang off the side or anything and take that extra second!

@mikep78108 ай бұрын
I have done that before. It was pretty windy that day
@onehappyfarmer34618 ай бұрын
You are dedicated to making videos. To climb up to the top of the silo, set up the camera, climb back below the roof line and then be seen on camera popping up over the side. Lol. I definitely ain’t doing that twice. It did add a nice touch to the video though.
@mikep78108 ай бұрын
Thanks Jeff. After 1st cutting haylage this past spring when I had to climb up every load to turn the distribution pan by hand, stepping down a few runs then climbing back up was a breeze

A little silage in the coffee isn't so bad. We got 4" of snow but it all melted so now we are heavy into fall tillage. Hopefully a little silage in coffee is the worst thing to happen for the rest of the harvest. Sure does sound windy at the top alright .
@mikep78108 ай бұрын
It sure was windy. My fingers are crossed that mother nature holds off on the snow for a little while longer

Great video, I’m new to your channel and I love the 50/55 series Deere’s we do have them in the uk here but they are getting rearer and not many good ones left. I do wonder if they could start building them again how many people would buy them as if you look at new kit now they really are cheap horsepower. All the best from the uk.

Thank you for subscribing Stuart. I always thought it would be cool if they came out with a retro style 50/55 series tractor for a year

Soak some garlic cloves in a jar of non pasteurized honey for a week than a spoonful in the morning and a spoonful at night or as needed and it will clear your sinuses
@mikep78108 ай бұрын
I'll have to try it
@timstevens28668 ай бұрын
Recipe on internet though it's really simple. Just got to open jar for few seconds a day to let gasses escape and use plastic or wooden spoons never metal.

Are you late this year with crops maturing? Here in Western Iowa the harvest is getting close to winding up. Guys putting anhydrous on
@mikep78108 ай бұрын
Yes the corn is a little behind this year. Got a late start planting because these fields were under water
@williamspates10158 ай бұрын
Mike with that style silo do you have any issues with gas when you close it up and open it to top silo off. I know on top unload silo we had you had to keep blower running to push gas out before you got in to level it off after it settled
@mikep78108 ай бұрын
Yes, you have to be careful when opening and closing the silo. There is a warning right on the hatch that warns about the gases from the forage
@williamspates10158 ай бұрын
@@mikep7810 I kinda thought so I know in are top unload silo you could look up the shoot and see the gas.

Why don't you take some time and get rid of all the weeds around your farm buildings? You can hardly see the machinery with all the overgrowth.

@mikep78108 ай бұрын
@MorganOtt-ne1qj We try to stay up on things but when it's just me and my 70+ year old father, things like that sadly get neglected. It doesn't matter if my farm was manicured like a golf course. Some people like to watch videos just to be negative and complain. It's sad
