This repair involves the replacement of the rear window regulator on a Toyota Camry. The regulator motor was okay ... the regulator hinge point broke. The old regulator was removed, and the regulator motor transferred to the new regulator.

A very informative video. One question: while installing new motor, how do you determine which part of the gear rack on the regulator meshes with gear on the motor. In other words how do you position or align gears to prevent over or under travel of the window glass. Thanks.

Good question. Before removing the motor, I apply paint alignment marks so that the assembly that holds the motor lines up with the scissor arm pivot point.

@@hardlymovingpro Thank you for responding. I did mark the position of motor and regulator with a permanent marker, but it got erased unintentionally. Now I am at loss on exactly where to mesh the gears.

@@tanveernaeem1157 Then it'll be trial and error. The spring load is to help the motor raise the glass. I'd error on the side of too much tension since more load is placed on the motor raising the glass then lowering it.

kewlness, guys. I need to write everything down..dint know about the door lock cover pins... Easier if you just replace the entire unit rather than just the motor, I don't have TORX and the regulators are really inexpensive, compared to Mr Foreign Auto Mechanic and Sons' Autoparts and Broasted Chicken pricing, ha. Your video is easier to understand than the one for uhh the XYZ autoparts company. Just replaced my passenger side power mirror..are those bolts 10 or 11mm?? If I c'n do Dat, I c'n do Dis, too. Well, courtesy of your great video. Thanks!!!! 🙃

What do you do to get the bolts loose that hold the window to the regulator if the motor failed while the window was closed?

Remove all the bolts the holds the regulator to the door frame. Then push the regulator away from the door frame; the regulator will drop down with the glass to expose the 2 window glass mounting bolts.

ok...video not labelled as Driver Rear but same same as passenger rear exCEPT it's a mirror image for Passenger side, yes? would change steps a bit, e.g. detach switch after door latch cover removed, don't wait until the whole panel is detached... so far, so good. BUT..whaddaya do if the fershtunkena window's Stucko in the (oh, no!) UP position ? Moves a teensy bit down but tilts backwards (towards rear of car) because (guess) the leftmost arm (be nice if there was a diagram...) connector is stuck in the track? Is dis common? Have a guess on how to handle this...is there a video for this problemo? thanks!! (thanks also for JB Weld info) Erm.... window is UP in the video but DOWN when detaching the regulator...sooo...que pasa??? Did I miss something here?? (scratching head)

For a stuck window in the up position, remove the 10 mm regulator assembly bolts (believe there are 6 of them) and detach the assembly off the door. The window glass will collapse down with the assembly. Then detach the window from the assembly.

@@hardlymovingpro ya well helps if you have an impact drill, them 6 bolts is ackshally tight. got the fershtunkena regulator motor out, fell right off; waiting for the replacement assembly... what is it causes the rear windows to not lower completely? (kid safety...). izzat built in there somewhere? oh, happy Fall and tanks again. You guys just do videos, you don't sell parts?? Darn... PS you guys like Scotty Kilmer? What a character...

Rear windows won't completely retract to save toddlers who want to jump out of the car. scotty complains too much and doesn't show you much on doing repairs.

but...if we were brave enough, why not fix the broken part? reattach the broken press-fit? connector/thing/whatchamacallit with a bit of JB WELD, for instance? had they manufactured these with a little more care....geee.. you wooden be able to do these great videos!!! 😆

Not worth it. JB Weld has its limits.
