Nicolas Feuilette is pretty much my go to Champagne houses because it's not as pricey as other big houses yet the quality is up there. ( bought their 2012 grand cru, 2015 ( don't remember) Blanc de Blanc, and 2008 Palmes d'or. They don't break my bank and it's good to have around the house. I do agree Champagne prices just kept going up and up and up, it might get to a point where most of us will be looking for alternatives or small producers.

The only one I've tried is, as you can guess, is the Volver Tarima Hill. I completely agree with you about the great value wines from Alicante and Jumilla. They are delicious and Big wines due to the hot climate. Unfortunately, I'm really concerned about the future of wine in those regions. The south of Spain is drying up and it is relentless.

Wow, I've actually had a couple of these! The Saint Cosme Cotes du Rhone is easy drinking, but I'd rather splurge a little and get their Gigondas or a CdP for the extra dimensions - when I can afford it! The Xanadu cab was one of my favorite discoveries last year, but I haven't been able to find it again. If I ever do, I'll break my rule of only buying one bottle at a time!

Tapiz is a nice malbec . If you can find a Malbec from Salta , north of Mendoza , you will find the concentration meeting freshness in a big wine that a lot of people like ! I would like to see your thoughts on a Salta Malbec ! Cheers !

I had some of them...Tapiz uses Jean Claude Berrouet as a consultant - I don't know if he consults for this particular line of wines, but I have a high end Merlot based Bordeaux blend called Las Notas de Jean Claude in my cellar, and I'm pretty excited about it. This Malbec is OK. Honestly, you can find way better value for Malbec in Mendoza, and I don't know why they decided to highlight this one specifically. Probably because of Berrouet. I would love to hear your opinion on St. Cosme. I bought it some time ago after seeing it get a lot of love in the Wineking channel...and it disappointed me, which is weird because I love Syrah and I love CdR. I thought it was too acidic and too adstringent. Couldn't finish the bottle. Vasse Felix, I had the Bordeaux blend and it was nice, though I wouldn't call it a good value in Brazil - where it goes for something like U$ 60. At this price point, I'd rather have a wine from Bordeaux. I'm so caught up in wine at this point that - as you were talking about St Cosme and it cut to an old guy looking at a bottle, I instantly recognized it: it's Couly-Dutheil!!! Nice video, as always...

This is an entertaining video, but it reiterates the point that WS primarily serves the US market, with not a lot of diversity or exotic wines in their line-up. High altitude earthy Malbecs are very enjoyable; I tasted some at a wine fair last August and was surprised how great they were. To be fair it is a good guide of wines available in the States for reliable wines that are nice to drink, but won't break the bank. Cheers!

Anyone serious about wine should not buy the La Crema, or Meiomi. There are lots of wines out there of way better QPR, particularly from Spain, Argentina, or Chile, that are way much cheaper, and better.

LaCrema……underwhelming, especially at #1. Agree with you…where is Portugal? Also, I could find Gran Selezione’s in Tuscany for around $30. Rosso’s for $20-$25. They should be on this list, but I am probably a little biased.

These best of lists really show the agendas and its players.....you either play (pay) according the rules or you are out... Portugal out of a value list is ridiculous to say the least. 😂...Im really in love with wine for a long time but the politics made me quit the business....just drinking now 😊😊

I was running the wine dept. For a wine company that represented producers, had a big wine tourism dept. and represented Enomatic dispensers in Portugal. I basically focused on wine and wine producers. Loads of fun and potential but the game had many hidden rules. The quality of a wine is never a guarantee of anything. I rather collect and drink wine nowadays. The truth is business tends to spoil things.
