You have a very nice Firefly! Your radio is very clear too.

I have watched all your videos at least 5-6 times each. They are absolutely AWESOME! Great video and audio! I am torn between a Kolb Firefly and an Aerolite 103, but your videos are winning me over to the Kolb side. One quick question. I noticed that you have an N-number on your tail boom, I thought that the Firefly fell under Part 103 and didn't require FAA registration. Could you please explain? Thanks-Brian

Thanks for the nice comment. People don't realize that there are about 30 minutes of editing time for every minute of video posted. It's a lot of work. I've really enjoyed the Firefly. Concerning registration, the Firefly certainly can be built under Part 103, or so they say. But, you have to work really hard to keep the weight legal. Many people will get close, but go over, and just call it good enough. The proverbial "fat ultralight." But, I wanted electric start, full enclosure, brakes, oversized tires with metal rims, full castering tail wheel, 10 gallons of fuel, and a transponder (required in my area). That put me far enough outside the Part 103 weight limit that I registered it. Plus, ultralights still have a bad rap from the 80's. I find there's a stigma around the airport I fly at. Your experience may vary. So, by registering it, it says "I have a pilot's license... I've been trained... I know the rules, etc." I have a PPL, so it wasn't a big deal for me to do. It will probably hurt the resale value though. The Aerolite 103 would be a good choice these days. It's kind of the best "traditional" looking ultralight going these days. If you buy new it will build quickly. If you build a Firefly, you will be building for a while. The covering process takes a long time. Slip on sails are nice... Of course, you get a much more finished/refined look with traditional covering. Choices, choices, choices... In the end, whatever you end up with, you will probably enjoy it.

if you painted your instrument panel flat black you'd probably have a lot less reflection
