I've been eyeing Tom Bihn packs for awhile now and they finally made one that fit my needs and wasn't crazy ugly. I really couldn't get with their aesthetic before, but the Techonaut is decent enough looking that I thought I could give it a whirl.
My ideal pack has outer pockets, including for a water bottle, and a lot of open space inside. I've used a Black Ember Forge for awhile, but it was a bit over engineered to me and I didn't love it. Up until now though, it had been my personal item for travel.
The Techonaut is really well built, and feels like a quality bag. The nylon is smooth and durable feeling and the zippers are tops.
I loved the outer pockets and I was able to easily organize my things with them. The inner main compartment is spacious with a nice lining.
This bag is a winner. At $420 after shipping and taxes, it's not cheap, but I feel it will last forever. Plus, they are made in the US.
