@@shmekelfreckles8157 There are 400 weapons in Elden Ring, along with numerous magic spells and unique skills. However, 90% of them are useless. They are either niche or have no purpose compared to other weapons that are unbalanced in both PvP and PvE, making it pointless to upgrade some of the weapons with the limited resources available. Having 100 weapons instead of 400, but ensuring that each one is viable and has certain advantages and disadvantages compared to others, would be better. However, the game developers chose to add a bunch of weapons that players end up not using. They could have invested that time into adding or improving something else instead. The funniest part is that the Godslayer's Greatsword L1 attacks are the same as the Fire Knight's Greatsword, but for some reason, only the Fire Knight's Greatsword has an L1 L1 combo. I completed the DLC and received slightly different-looking Radahn armor and Radahn greatswords. I regret wasting my time and money on this.

@@w1nterscurse The FKGS L1 to L1 is 100% a bug and will be incredibly easy to fix as well. I disagree with having each one be viable, that's just not realistic. Some things will always rise to the top. Hitting a perfect balance just won't happen. Even in Bloodborne, weapons aren't perfectly balanced.

Blind Spot is bad but I’m pretty sure Swift Slash is worse. Really remarkable how the two most busted AoW’s in the DLC are tied to the same weapon class

I'm seething that they made fucking double reverse grip blades busted, while actual practical weapons and remembrance rewards are still underwhelming. They really bent over backwards to give them high mobility, high motion values (damage) despite having visibly shit momentum, and busted AoWs that don't even have a lore justification. You just get anime superpowers from holding your sword backwards.

I agree, just removing the i-frames would be good enough. Before learning about the i-frames I mostly used this ash of war in PvE for repositioning. It's completely fine for that purpose alone and doesn't need the i-frames. Hopefully FromSoftware removes the i-frames on it. It would make for an ash of war with a lot of skill expression.

@@MakoTaco there's actually a talisman that allows you to have i-frames on the backsteps like in ds2, from what i notice it has the same i-frames as rolling. it's called "Fine Crucible Feather". and yes before you ask, it has the same drawback as the other feather talisman, it lowers you defences, but just like soreseal, intead of being 30%, it's 15%.

i found swift slash is also very spammable and also similar in the regard that its just "press l2 over and over to win." it has really strong range, and the attacks between the first hit and the 'vacuum' slices that come after are staggered in such a way that makes it virtually impossible to dodge both. paired with bleed (staggering through rolls), literally all you need to do is spam l2. they cant roll far enough even with light roll to escape it.

Blindspot is countered by palmblast. Everyone keeps talking about the backhand blade ashes of war like they're stupidly oppressive, meanwhile I literally just palmblast tap on reaction and they keep getting hit. Also palmblast staggers long enough that it truecombos into light attack, and i think even heavy attack.

martial arts are dog weapons, so if your opponent knows your plan they're just gonna beat you with their superior moveset and press L2 whenever you try to attack, even swift slash can just go too far past you to get hit by it, or just bleed proc you out of your l2

If only one attack from one weapon type can maybe counter an attack, we have a balancing issue. Also the dryleaf hand has the incorrect poise damage value so its not ideal to use as of now.

No clue why people refer to 'swift slash' as 'swift strike'. Also, I've beaten many swift slash players in invasions. It's not easy because they just spam it but I've beat 'em using the talons with endure (so they can't stagger me) and blood grease on a dex build. The R2 into R2 is a combo on the talons

@@KyokujiFGC yeah it's not a guaranteed win but it makes it so they can't stagger you. As long as the swift slash user isn't smart enough to not spam the aow when you get the endure off, you have a good chance of winning when the bleed procs from your weapon

iFrames can be adjusted specifically for PvP. Patch 1.10 made PvP specific adjustments for quickstep and bloodhound step, so it’s not without precedent.

As soon as I saw the skill basically being an attack and a dodge at the same time I knew it was going to be fucked. Swift slash too. The possible nerf for the former is some kind of separate PvP balancing, which they’re obviously capable of, reducing its damage drastically, and also maybe just removing it’s I frames completely and giving it some kind of light hyper armor instead. I don’t know about that issue. A dodge being an attack is just broken no matter which way you put it, but also that’s the point of the attack in pve. A better solution could be that you have the dodge stay the same, but the attack portion be delayed and slower instead of if being one swift motion, thus giving time for a reaction or r1 from an opponent to counter if they know you’re spamming it or playing unskillfully. In other words it needs to be able to be punished for using it too frequently. As for swift slash, simply give it a slower more readable start up time and less dmg and that takes care of that.

Hey talking about balance i have noticed that flame spear wont hit the full ash of war if you are standing to close to someone, the projectile part of the ash will come out behind them and never hit. Anyone know if thats intended or just a glitch? Was using flame kinghts greatsword, dont know it its the same for other weponds

The counter play for this is super simple; swing with a HA weapon, turn around mid swing. Only the first half ish of blind spot has i-frames so you can easily catch it out by turning 70-90 degrees.

Another issue highlighted here is how the ashe actually gets priority after the user gets staggered by a COLOSSAL SWORD. Poor guy wasnt even out of his recovery by the time the ashes attack frame began. This is a big issue that a lot of ashes that are considered broken are - raptors, BHS, quickstep, all had the same problem. Read the frame data, folks.

Best way to counter it is with Midra remembrance weapon oddly enough works nice vs this (or I just had luck with people who didn't press L2 enough) but tracking and hyper armour it gives on the Hornest impale thingy is pretty nice.

I had a plan while testing this with a friend while on my mage build, assuming the blind spot user is kinda dumb (which I'm sure most will be) you can set up some zoning spells (shard spiral, glintblades etc) and if they try to close the distance you can actually use the awful twin moon spell, the blind spot attack doesn't swing up at all so it's not able to hit you in the moons lmao. That being said, could also probably do like Gavel of Haima and just super armor it

When I found the backhand blades shortly into the DLC and tried out the moveset and then the AoW, I knew they were going to be a problem 😭 still a sick weapon and definitely a new favorite of mine, but once I realized there was i-frames I knew it was gonna be abused ☠️ sadly PvPers can't stick to using exclusively what they actually enjoy rather than the most broken meta options, I understand sometimes there's overlap still and meta stuff can be fun but most have 0 self-control and go overboard with it imo

Seeing stuff like this in the DLC makes me happy I didn't invest time in this game's pvp. After seeing how the demo had tons of DS3 glitches in it and they only patched it because of pressure from types like Gabri and G9 it was pretty clear fromsoft never learns andor doesn't care about pvpers besides potential bad publicity. ER just felt like new toy syndrome where they thought throwing in hundreds of new weapons and AoWs would overshadow the dumpster fire, and the DLC is just that mindset on steroids. Still hope they make it enjoyable, I just won't hold my breath.

I get it but murky didn’t bleed, poison or frostbite in 3 hits or had an attack that moves you 12 feet forward. Maybe adjust the timing of animation so lighter weapons can roll on reaction after committing an attack. Then maybe some stat changes to make it less spamable. But with how Fromsofts net code works... it starts looking like more of an issue. So idfk

Blind spot invalidates 90% of the setups in the game, swift slash invalidates the remaining 10%

I’ve been running fire knight GS and backhand swift slash, soft swapping between the two. Incredibly easy mode. Way overtuned. Makes the 1.10 meta look like rainbows and unicorns.
