It took us 8 days to complete La Cloche Silhouette (counterclockwise) and we were the first to complete it in 2017. It was cold! We had 4 consecutive nights of -20C (-5F) or colder.

Great job on the hike man! My son and I completed the La Cloche Silhouette trail this summer. It was hard enough climbing up and down the ridges in hiking boots in the summer but to do it in the cold temperatures and snowshoes!?! Wow, awesome stuff! I'm going to be trying for the first time some winter camping this season myself.

Whoa! I met Ende on an intro to winter backcountry hiking trip with the Toronto Outdoor Club in 2012. He was a beast then too, which is why I remember him after all these years

Wow! I've been thinking about doing this for a long time, but never even heard of anyone else doing it. I was so happy to see a video of the experience. I've always thought that Kahtoola microspikes would help with all of the icy sections when you don't really need snowshoes on. That was an epic trip well done. I may have to tackle this next year during March break. Thanks for the great video.

as for tenting I have a northface ev 25 so I like to go with someone to help carry half as it is a 10lb tent but boom proof in bad weather. I also use a northface snowleopard, great bag I ues a MSR Dragonfly Stove. tip you might try using some KIWI camp dry on you shoes and other gear. hope to see more of your videos.

After completing this in the fall of 2017, I've been itching to complete this in the winter. Trying to build a group. Great video. Happy to see some other adventurous people to brave the cold. When did you go, I'm looking at going in late February as I've missed my December window

Terrific video and I liked seeing some guys with you closer to my age for inspiration. I have hiked the trial many times in the warmer weather but I am so close to trying my first trip in the winter. I don’t think I have it in me to do it in January or February but like you March seems like a good month to try it. I would love for you to do a video or give some advice for experienced fair weather hikers who want to get into winter hiking in Ontario. Most videos are geared towards beginners but looking for more details on what to pack and what can stay home? I am guessing you switch to purification tablets instead of a hallow fibre filter and do you need to melt snow or bring a light weight axe to cut the ice on the lake to get water? Does regular canister fuel work ok in this temperature with something like a Soto windmaster or do you need a stove that allows inverted fuel canisters to work? I like your channel and appreciate the local content as well as the gear reviews. Thanks for making the videos and sharing them.

Great video, don't think that I've seen one yet on this long a winter hike through Killarney. Hope your feet healed up okay. You're a real bear for punishment, eh. I wonder what the park rangers thought of your desire to hike the full loop.

benny voncannon I think this trip was a good demonstration of its capabilities -- I've used this pack in all sorts of conditions but being able to do an 8 day winter trip with it is definitely the icing on the cake. Being able to fit all my gear into 60L says nothing about the pack, but its ability to carry those 35lbs and transfer almost all of that weight to the hips is definitely a standout feature. I didn't get any shoulder fatigue at all (and I'm used to carrying a 20lb pack). I would like to try the new hipbelt though, as the more contoured shape should help skinny people like me. Although you can strap additional gear to the exterior of the pack, I wanted all my stuff inside the pack so that I could still strap my snowshoes to it if they weren't needed for a significant leg of the trail. When the pack is maxed out at 60L, you really have to arrange your snowshoes tidily for the compression straps to reach around. An extra inch or two of strap here could really help, at minimal weight cost.

A discontinued model by Vasque (great idea but poor execution). I've definitely gotten rid of them. Ready for your hike this week? I did it last year in early November and it was beautiful!

yup just getting my food together I think it should be nice, not bringing snowshoes so hopefully there won't be that much snow. Definitely much easier than your trip there. We're bringing a tarp tent with packable titanium stove and chimney so we should be nice and warm every time we setup camp.
