Winter Camping in a Bivy Bag and Mount Binser

Spending the night out in a bivy bag, waking up covered in frost.
On this adventure I spend the day hiking up Mount Binser in Arthurs Pass National Park.

Few years back I did the Andrews to Cassy Hut down the Poulter then over the Binser Saddle. A month later some muppet burnt down the Cassy hut😞 Started snowing on the first arvo and right though the night and I woke to about a foot of snow on the valley floor. Up the Binser saddle was around three to four foot deep. So much fun. 🤙🤙

You are NZs answer to Foresty Forest smashing those peaks! Bring on the rough terrain, there’s a bit of mountain goat in you it seems. Another great adventure, thanks for taking us along.

Scree surfing - love it, Thanks for the idea of a Bivy bag. Going to do Southern Alps Ka Tiritiri O Te Moana and may not be able to sleep in huts so this OR Bivy makes a great light weight back up plan. You just levelled up again on your filming & production !!!

@@BackcountryKiwi Inland from Hokitika. Cedar Flat Hut to Top Kotatahi Hut to Crawford Hut to Boo Boo Hut and out. The guys I go with like to do less popular trails.

Those meals and tortillas work well. That's 95 percent what I've eatin on my ta trail adventure. Weight ova taste everytime. Tried so many others and they are dog s#@t for the price.

No sand flies, BK! LOL. Great choice of bivvy sac, Outdoor Research is top shelf. I used to use one until I got fat and developed claustrophobia! Awesome post as always, good to see you out on the trail again. Cheers.
