I started watching to help me fall asleep and now I find myself watching durning the day, super entertaining and relaxing!

By far, these videos are THE BEST videos I've seen! The camping, the quiet, a man and his dog, the cooking....I could go on, but you get the idea! Please keep doing these great videos Matthew!

Me again! Had to get something to eat while I’m watching your videos. Anyway, I remember a nurse that used to work here in Las Cruces, and she was from some little town in the upper peninsula of MI, and her name was Jeanie Funke. She told a story about walking to school as a kid, and sometimes her mom would tell the kids, “Better take the long way to school,” (rather than their shortcut through the woods)...”there’s bear shit on the trail.” So you be careful out there...the bears are waking up from their winter hibernation, and they’re HUNGRY and they all wake up on the wrong side of the bed, cave, hole. And I’ve heard they all like “Montreal!” -KGB

To my recollection, winter camping = no mosquitos -and- summer camping = mosquitos. I remember only those two seasons in MI (just kidding). In southern New Mexico, we have summer (49.5 weeks a year), and windy (about 2.5 weeks a year). But no mosquitos-unless you’re standing in the Rio Grande.🌵 Thanks for another great video!!! I am cataloging all these meals you cook. You really know how to cook up a feast. This is my favorite part, where I see what is for dinner. You are so good at cooking you could have your own cooking show. HGTV needs to look into you lol. I think you are a cooking star not yet discovered. Love love MONTY! Especially when he is excited and jumping for his stick.

OK, I looked it up. Pastie dough, like pie dough, doesn’t really need to RISE after mixing, it just needs a 20 minute REST (this makes the dough easier to work with/roll out). Cookbooks suggest forming the dough into a 3-4” disk, then wrapping it snuggly in plastic wrap and putting it in the REFRIGERATOR! So, it seems Michigan weather (during this winter/spring “whatever” period) is rather perfect for this project! KGB

Love how Monty watches over your cooking skills. Monty just loved all that generous portions of steak and steak on bone that you gave him. Your videos are the grestest. Me and my dog Sweeney really do enjoy watching your videos over and over and over and etc....

I have watched all your videos alot, over and over and copied your recipes and bought that Montreal seasoning and I can not wait to try those recipes and cook it over an open fire this summer camping. You have inspired my family and even my 20yr old Grandson bought himself alot of hiking and camping gear to try some of the things you did and do. He is going to try to starting fires like you do and he bought an axe to chop our fire wood and my 16yr old Granddaughter and my daughter (her mother) are regular kayakers and are going with me to camp and adventure more this summer and my youngest Grandson is 14yrs old and loves fishing and camping. Thanks for all your inspiration and Yes, my dog Sweeney is our adventure puppy, he is 9+ yrs old and he is going to be spoiled just like Monty. I bought him his own camping supplies as well.

I’ve started to realize that I need to have a good meal in front of me if I’m going to watch one of your videos, otherwise, it’s pure torture. There’s a movie called Dinner Rush that has the same effect on me, except that it must be Italian food (if you haven’t seen Dinner Rush yet, you’re missing a little gem-must watch until the very end)! KGB

Hate to admit it but I often fast forward to the point in your videos when you either start your campfire or begin your food prep. It’s my favourite aspect of your video’s. I’d like more time by the campfire just taking in the the sights and sounds with you as well. So peaceful and relaxing. I love the longer format.

That little stream in the beginning of this episode-do you think that you could have caught any fish in there?? So, re: the pasties. These little meat pies we introduced to the upper peninsula by the Cornish miners that emigrated to America. They would carry the pasties inside their helmets to keep them warm, and eat them for lunch. I think just about any version of this would be fine. You may wish to wait until the weather is warmer, or carry the (already made) dough in a ziplock bag in a pocket that keeps it from freezing. A campfire-style dutch oven would work to “bake” it. It wouldn’t be so bad to bring the dutch oven if you used your sled

Snow Camping is the answer to what you were doing. Winter, Spring, Fall, or Summer, if there is snow, it's snow camping.
