Hi Pete, I'm a Brit, watching the video from home in Ador, near Valencia in Spain. I love all your videos - be they general stuff about the farm or pasture management, the pigs, the cows or the (wonderful) tractor rebuild. They are a wonderful way to distract me from the everyday trials and tribulations of life and a tribute to your realisation that contentment, be it professional or personal, comes in many shapes and forms. Long may you continue to post your videos Pete, because each time you do it brightens my day immeasurably. Un fuerte abrazo.

Yes my twin and her husband started off small, learning from farmers in their area. A lot of people start off with chickens and pigs. We had a uncle with goats. We have gardens, green houses. But we won't have a lot of animals. My twin live in Tennessee, they started off with horses. Worked their way up. Chickens, pigs, some cows, now they have some goats. They are now rasing quail. They still have a lot of land. They were Smart enough to buy young, they chose a area where there were no houses. We mostly raising to feed our families. Our relatives have land going back to the 1800s. All of our great and grandparents raised the same things. Had gardens. So we have been taught all of our lives, buy land raise what you can, that way you will never go hungry. It's good to depend on yourself and not the government.we see what is going on. I say to anyone who can, buy some land if the soil is fertile start off slow and give it a try. Have your own. You are bound to find someone local who can give you advice, maybe sell you baby pigs, ECT. We had older farmers give us chickens, sell us pigs. Cows cost more. But my husband didn't mind working for them to help but animals. We are now in our late 40s. Been at it for years. Every little bit help. Hunting deer in season. Help feed the family. 👍 To those who are raising their own food. God Bless. Love, respect and positivity always. Vee, Andrew and Family.✌️🖖🙏🕯️🌻💕🙂👋.

Hi Pete, I'm a small vegetable grower from England. I think our climate is milder than yours in the winter, most of our carrots, cabbages, leeks, Swedes (rutabaga) and other winter vegetables survive outside in the fields during the winter months. Could you please explain, because I'm curious, how vegetable growers in New York store carrots, turnips, sweet potatoes etc. so that they can still sell them fresh each week at the Winter Farmers Market. I always enjoy watching your tractor restorations and general repairs too. Very best wishes to you all. Peter.

Hi you guys! Pete, that little lettuce you ate is caled "Feld salat" (Field salad) I also heared it called "Rapunzel" in the states (I live in Germany but also stayed in the USA 13 yrs. Anywho its a very hardy salad and it grows well in even clay ground. My grandma had it eah year- a normal in Germanys grocery stores in he cold season. 150 gram go for 1.50. It is very sandy cuz how short it grows, needs a few washes but delicious very nutty but no spicy as Ruccola salad. Best wishes :)

Hi Pete. I'm chiming in from Montana. We lived outside Newfield from 01-07. I really enjoy your channel. I came to say "Thank you" for your channel. We have a Super MD I plan to restore, so your channel is great for that. Also, I saw a summer video from Ithaca Farmers Market and even from 15 years ago, I knew where you were driving. As you pulled up I thought, "He's right next to the guy with the beard who used to have a "MORE-ganic" sign." Sure enough, your booth was right next to his. And here he is right up front when you walk in the door at the Triphammer Mall. So awesome to see old acquaintances. I watched Peter McDonalds boy start out small and then begin to bring meat to the market himself.

I remember as a kid going with my father to his father's near Wyalusing, Pa. and my dad had to take the magneto off the John Deere H and put it in the wood fired cooking stove and baked it for a while to dry it out before it would produce a spark when spinning the hand wheel on the side of the tractor. That tractor would use gasoline to start and then switch it over to kerosene. Those were the good old days. Oh yeah, I am 69 years old.

Pete, I'm an old motor and armature winder, in my seventies. I did a lot of work for vintage and vetran car clubs, 6 to 12v conversions, generator rewinds, etc but the brain of my existence were magnetos, they are wound with very very fine wire, insulated with various products, shellac, wax and bitumen. All of which give problems especially around petrol. I came up with a solution, and, that was to tear out the innards and install an HV coil, either internal or external and call it an update. Cheers.
