Hi Scarlett! I'm glad I could inspire you, and of course I don't mind :D Sorry I don't have more videos up but I have been working on a field guide that I hope to have finished by this summer, and it's pretty much zapping any free time I get. p.s. it's cool to see your art channel. Your a great artist and it's really kind of you to share your work/lessons with everyone!

Sweet ! Cooking with mud&blackberry leaves... the fact that you took few sec to show that you've put the fire out, makes the vide all worthwhile....

Came across your video as one does on youtube. Very interesting! But what are wild carrots please? Are they what I know as Queen Ann's Lace? Thank you. Loving these informative videos!
@TheNorthwestForager
@TheNorthwestForager 4 жыл бұрын
Hello, thank you for watching :) Yes its queen Anne's lace (Daucus carota). Just gotta be careful because in some states they call poison hemlock queen Anne's lace as well.

About how long to the carrots cook for? Also, do they need to be cooked, or can they also be eaten raw?
@TheNorthwestForager
@TheNorthwestForager 8 жыл бұрын
Id say it takes about 45 min... or a good indicator is once the wet mud bakes into a hard clay. These can be eaten raw just like your farmed carrot but you'll want to make sure they're washed well, keep in mind once the plant has gone to flower the root will become too fibrous to enjoy. Thanks for watching!

are wild carrots more nutritional than your moden carrots?
@Dollapfin
@Dollapfin 7 жыл бұрын
Brandon Cox actually they may not be. They have more phytochemicals because they're wild and they are much stronger in odor so you can tell they do but they don't have any pigment like orange purple or red carrots do which makes them less healthy overall. Eat them for their medicinal benefits because they do have more natural phytochemicals which help our bodies a lot.
@Dollapfin

Brandon Cox but probably in terms of certain vitamins just less in sugars and antioxidants

why do you cover it in mud
@TheNorthwestForager

Hi Michael! The mud helps to steam cook it and bake evenly. I learned the technique originally for baking a potato on a campfire.
