Kudos off to Mr. Blanco for doing this for us. I live in rainy Seattle where snow is pretty rare. I do remember however when I was a kid growing up in Ohio, a huge snow storm would unexpectedly blow in on a Wednesday and with the "lake effect" from Lake Erie, it might go on for a couple days. By Thursday night I would sit at the window looking out and absorb the calm and silence, as well as the beauty that came with it. Something other worldly and magical. Then my mother would bring me a cup of hot chocolate and we would watch it together for a while. Then Friday morning would come and school was cancelled, along with the tests I hadn't studied for. It was a nice feeling...saved by the snow storm. A three day weekend and made some money shoveling the neighbor's walkways.

My son lives in central Florida and has suggested that I move to where he is (so we aren't so far apart). But I told him that the heat and humidity keeps me home bound enough during the summer months up here, why would I want to be in Florida and be home bound for twice the amount of time. As you said, it's what you like and prefer. I prefer 4 seasons, and personally, I prefer the winter to the summer.

My favorite thing about this upload is seeing so many kindred spirits in the comments section! I _hate_ summer and I _hate_ the heat with a burning passion (see what I did there?). Once its September (which is still hot where I live), and we start the gradual descent into the "Ber Months," I love the progression of leaves changing and temps dropping. No, it doesn't snow like this, and that's why I love watching this snow time lapses so much: they seem to fanciful and magical to me.

Ah, the first snow of the season... The silence, the pristine beauty of nature. Snow is a gift of the Gods, the Creator, the ultimate beauty after a long hot summer and the magnificence of the leaves changing colour and falling. Young and old become playful. The crispy sound from under your boots, the way normal life comes to a halt and everybody goes into slow mode. Going out into the woods the images become a photographers' dream. The reward of hot chocolate and a wood burners' fire after shovelling the side walk. The way young and old become heroes for their neighbours. Announcing weeks of ice-skating fun and irregular school. Saudades... Saudades...

I also live in central Ohio and agree 100% with you. The winters of, particularly the last 20-30 years, have been consistently a lot more mild and rainy compared to the winters of say 30 or 40+ years ago when "winter used to be ACTUAL winter" with at least a couple of heavy 8-12 inch snow storms every year and maybe even the occasional 12+ inch blizzard every 3 or 4 years. Those days are long gone. The earth has been in a "warming up" phase since then, and so we just have to wait patiently for the earth to decide it's ready to switch back to a "cooling down" phase.

Grace Grace I will never ever understand. I grew up in Toledo, Ohio from 1963-1986. Having to live with snow in the winter seasons was MISERABLE. After graduating college, moved to Southern California and never once missed snow. Not even at Christmas time. Had to move back to Toledo for 2 1/2 years (California is WAY too expensive and the politics were insane), and the “polar vortex” my last winter sealed the deal that I had to leave again. Now, happy to be writing this comment from Charleston, South Carolina. Guess proof that God makes us all different.

Incredible how permanent storms are in the U.S. I come from New Zealand and in the snowy regions (south island) it very rarely snows like that basically due to the fact that we cant have fixed weather fro than then about six hours. The big NZ blizzards are short and sharp in comparison because we live on an island and the weather is so ever changing. You only see snow like this in valleys where the storm clouds get caught in and hang around otherwise they just disappear north and turn into rain in the North Island. Quite impressive rarely what you Americans are subject to in terms of weather.

Lived there 29 years, but had to move back to Ohio. (Was TOO expensive, could no longer live paycheck-to-paycheck.) Being there again, was miserable for the next two years, my last year there living through what was called a winter “polar vortex” I had no car, so I had to walk to work-and I had two part-time jobs-in that horrible, cold, white sh*t! After 2 1/2 years in Ohio, moved to lovely South Carolina. Very happy here; will take muggy summers any day! To me, there is no charm to winter & snow when you have to live in it.

The closest thing I've ever had to this is when it rained for like 2 days straight. If you think about it that's kinda sad.

Ok,we get it we get it,your place gets -50 degrees every winter and the snow is the size of Mt. Everest. BUT,yall have the infastructure for that,so any snow and you're used to it. In the UK,this aint commonplace.
