I was so excited to get out and do a winter bushcraft excursion. I had really wanted to do a snow shelter but we didn't get enough snow so I had to use the tarp in a forester tent setup. I bought some striking steel and used a blue quartz with my char cloth to start my fire and the taut-line hitch to adjust my grill for cooking. It's not really meant to use for tall fires, just embers but it lasted for one last meal prep. I will be getting some chain for my permanent grill setup. The morning was so beautiful and at first, didn't know what that crashing sound and animal call was in the background. I got my phone out quick enough to record the sound and after research, I learned that it was the sound of a whitetail deer. There are ALOT of deer in the area and a couple moose, so the ground was full of animal tracks. Note that I had lost some really good footage because my gopro has been acting up lately and it stops recording video at 8 seconds! I was able to salvage some of it and thankfully was also shooting with my nikon. So, some of the clips were very short! I hope that you enjoy watching though!
