Hi Tracy! Great to be out in the great outdoors right? 🏕️🔥I dig the shelter.👍🏼 Have you looked at the cold steel spetsnaz shovel? Great tool and not overly expensive. There's a short and longer handle version. And your chicken looked delicious. Stay safe out there and God bless you 🙏🏼🕊️❤️🥩

Aww thanks so much my friend! Yes, I should’ve gone with a proper spetnaz.I will order one, thanks a lot for the recommendation! The chicken was awesome! Lol, I’m glad the rotisserie worked out. 😀 Take care!

Pretty cool camp . I'll bet that took the better part of a good days work. But well worth it. As I can see Steak and some veggies and a relaxing evening. Take care safe journey.

Hey Mark, thanks! Yeah you know it. Thankfully, I already had a bunch of logs prepped from my previous shelter which was a huge time saver! I only had to cut a few more trees for the side walls. Heading out tomorrow to start on the roof! Looking forward to it. Thanks for watching. 🙂

@@rusticlivingbushcraft oh your welcome I like this kind of stuff. I'm a retired Carpenter and I like the primitive living it shows a great deal in a person when you do what you do looking forward to seeing your take on the roof. Preparing everything prior to building anything is always key.Take care safe journey to you.

Thanks. Ok good, I need your advice. I need to cut 5 beams to do an A Frame. I am using Aspen trees as they are abundant. Green or dry standing better? I will be covering it with a tarp then putting moss overtop so the wood should stay relatively dry. I’ve never used green wood before. Not sure how much it might shrink if I use it.
@markrobertson901529 күн бұрын
@@rusticlivingbushcraft I thought I replied to your asking for advice I'm not sure if it went through or not. Anyway the drier the lumber the better but if it is too dry then it's firewood. Green lumber is alright to build with there's just shrinkage while it dries out. If you live in a cooler climate then it will dry out slower.I hope that helps you Take care.
@rusticlivingbushcraft27 күн бұрын
Yes thanks! I found some good dry standing wood! It’s also a hell of a lot lighter than green wood!!

Occurred to me there is a different way to make a super shelter, dig a hole to lay in, put plastic sheet over hole, reflective mylar on floor, Sun's long rays heat ground during the day just like a car gets hot on a sunny day, should dissipate heat slowly during night.
@rusticlivingbushcraft4 ай бұрын
Interesting concept. You would lose that heat when you crawl in though. Body heat might raise the temp a bit if it’s a small enclosure.

here in the UK that kind of shelter is called a Gypsy palace. If the Gypsy family was to big to sleep in the wagon they would make these and cover then with blankets.
@rusticlivingbushcraft5 ай бұрын
Hey, thanks for watching! Wellll, this is a bit different in construction and function than just throwing a blanket or tarp over. The mylar reflects the heat, the parachute fabrics wicks away condensation moisture and the plastic acts like a greenhouse to allow and trap heat in. My husband is a Brit, so I wasn’t sure if that was a tongue in cheek comment or not though! lol!

I spent some time living in Alberta & B.C. as a child, Memories I had were amazing when I lived close to Lake Louise, my parents are gone now but I remember an indoor swimming pool facility that when walking in, you passed through a lower level with glass looking underwater. "I know it's an odd comment, but I hope someone might read it and help me place where it might have been, as I was too young to remember." I had no idea Alberta was so beautiful, I thought it was mainly plains.
@rusticlivingbushcraft5 ай бұрын
Oh that’s interesting! I haven’t heard of that but I will ask around!! I would think that something like that would be in the hot springs. Yes, Alberta has a lot of beautiful spots for sure!! Thanks for watching and commenting!
