On April 28, 2016, just over a dozen railroad enthusiasts gathered at the Wiscasset, Waterville, & Farmington Railway Museum in Alna, Maine for their spring photo charter. The Wiscasset, Waterville, & Farmington Railway, originally the Wiscasset & Quebec, was a two-foot narrow gauge that operated from 1895 until 1933. During its peak, it stretched from Wiscasset to Albion and Winslow. Although the system once traveled fifty-eight miles, it never reached Waterville nor Farmington. Since the mid 1990’s, two and a half miles of the railroad have been restored and now operate as a non-profit tourist railroad.
Powering the photo train was the newly restored #9, the last surviving locomotive to operate on the original WW&F. She was built in 1891 by the Portland Company, but had been in hibernation from 1933 until late 2015.
