Finding out later after my elderly mother passed away, that she was abused mentally by a family member who was trusted to care for her, I feel guilty. I now think I should've seen the signs, and I should haved moved her in with me to care for. She loved me and my family. I knew they fought a lot, but wasn't until her sister (my Aunt) told me just how bad she was treated, that these thoughts came upon me. I now imagine how much happier she would've been if she had lived with me, or if I had arranged for assisted living for her near us. I'm trying to use Byron's method to work through this and free myself from this pain of regret.

I can’t tell you how disappointed I am in this video discussion. Katie that goes for you as well. You never asked him at least in the part I watched, if it was absolutely true that our president is arrogant. In other situations, I find you would’ve said that, I think you would’ve encouraged the other person to say no. Because how do we know if someone is arrogant? How do we really know if someone is arrogant? It’s really all in your own perception. Who are we to define anyone as anything? This is a political, politicized discussion. This is not about the work.

Is my President arrogant? I don't know him personally. The media provides us with many images, depending upon the media bias. One I see the President pushing a man aside. Another I see him "working" a meeting and having listening skills we might all envy. Another I see him getting down to the size of a young boy, smiling HUGELY at him, and shaking the little boy's hand. The little boy is so happy to meet HIS President. I've seen a sensitive President hug parents who have lost their son in a horrific way. Hmmm...Is My President arrogant? I've known men and women who are so charming, I've been smitten to my core. Then I find out they are wolves in sheep's clothing. This year alone I've learned that people I admired have been charged with sexual assault and ended up in jail, or leaving an important position in politics or some other important position. I am learning to not trust appearances, and to constantly question, as the WORK so beautifully invites us. Is my President arrogant? Perhaps, but I do know and believe that he is a human like all of us, who most likely has a myriad of personal qualities, some good, some bad. I will continue to watch him, watch what he does and keep my heart and mind open.

SidewaysInTraffic He is in a category we in Sociology and Psychology refer to as Narcissist Personality Disorder, Overt class - outwardly displays his NPD behaviors. And, his NPD is understood by MS News Media and used to gain conflict, arguments, ie. Viewer Numbers which equals Profits - large profits. This point is concerning as it is creating much negative and unworthy energies in the whole of the public. Individuals are best served by realizing these 2 facts (his NPD and Media's unethical actions for manipulating the public and gaining profits) Detach from the concept as it isn't representative of a routine political scenario - it isn't a Republican vs Democrat reality - it is a unique and individual reality of him and those profiting from knowing how to manipulate his already NPD as bait for public reactions. Let's focus on solutions and a Most Benevolent Outcome for all -

@sheilakirwan6900
@sheilakirwan6900 6 жыл бұрын
Kimberly Navarro with contemplation ...inquiry, the mind becomes empty ...without contemplation, the emptiness is temporary ...in my experience, both are needed ...not enough stillness of mind, makes contemplation difficult as the mind goes out tp the senses or to other thoughts, perceptions etc ...
@lionfacemusic
@lionfacemusic 6 жыл бұрын
Yep, I feel like contemplation on beliefs or thoughts helps us to see through them. They become less solid and ‘true’, which makes it easier to let them go. This is ultimately super freeing. And meditation helps us to see when we’re present in this moment and when we’re not. That’s super freeing too. They’re both tools that can help us become free from a pained and tortured mind.
@findingyourwaytoday
@findingyourwaytoday 5 жыл бұрын
I think meditation is not an emptying of mind. Not sure that is possible, at least for nearly everyone... it is more noticing the noise, the agenda, the reaction, the judgment, etc. and learning to not yell back, to not judge vs. observe, and learning to see it as it is not as we think it is supposed to be. The practice does allow us to recognize what we can notice and let go of, at least temporarily.

There is mindfulness, meditation, inquiry, contemplation. None of these things are the same. Meditation is focus on awareness. Mindfulness is focus on an object. Inquiry is questioning thought. Contemplation is a deep almost trance like consideration of a question or idea. They all have different uses.
@viveviveka2651
@viveviveka2651 3 жыл бұрын
It depends on the definitions and who you listen to. Krishnamurti will say one thing, Ramana Maharshi another, and Sri Aurobindo will say more. Theravada Buddhists say a variety of things, as do the Zen teachers and the followers of Nagarguna and Patanjali. Kabir and Rumi have their sayings, as do many others. Apart from the rare true teachers, virtually every "spiritual" person I come across is arrogant as Hell. They are self-designated experts on "meditation" and "contemplation," but their real understanding is essentially non-existent. They are not living in another dimension, if they could be honest about themselves and come off their pedestals. If you are not not fully and completely living in the supreme bliss of the Infinite and Eternal Divinity, just come off it and find an actual truer way of being. Meditation is emptying the mind of its contents, according to some teachings. Inquiry and contemplation can be variously difined, as can meditation. "Pondering over" such things as total surrender and total humility is another approach. "Pondering over not becoming, and giving up all self-centered activity entirely" is another. Total unconditional surrender of knowing is another. Testing it out, living it.... Perhaps none of it is necessary, though. The workings of the Infinite are not so limited. Let me not be subject to these gods.

at the end, is she talking about The Persona? ---- 21:15 to 21:23 Don't believe her. It's not a matter of believing her. You have to see if that's true by doing Inquiry. (BUT! Do not do Inquiry to be seeing if she is "right" "correct" "telling the truth" "deserving of 'my trust'" etc. Do the Inquiry for you and you alone to attend to your primary things. The spinoffs that come out of it, you'll see what they are and what to do with them or how to enjoy or ignore them later. Those spinoffs are second order things for now, don't get into them and make a future story about where they will be in your life or how you'll use them as apowerful metric to see that Katie is telling the truth or lying, etc.

(this doesn't mean you live your life like a limp dicked weakling. it means you play and do what you have to on this level but there is the larger metaphysic too.) Decide and live in your own Authority, but also still open to new, to update, to more, to change--always know that you're not done, even in the areas of knowledge and wisdom, where i consider myself quite good at (i've never had worthy competition though in that area though, you will feel smart when hanging out with peole who see no value in wisdom and philosophy. you will feel smart when you understand religion/spirituality and a bunch of other people don't) believe onto means projecting 18:12 The Concept of "I did this" in the context of the most banal and obvious things. Identify one thing that you think you have to do. For example, "I have to work" or "I have to be happy"... when you investigate these thoughts you can be shown. Are you able to enjoy the sensations that come with that? Could frustration be a gift? I have a lot of empathy for you because I know how long the path is. I often read Stephen Mitchell's translation of The Tao te Ching and that helps me. You can become like the grasses that move with the wind. Diane ..yes any big change ..in my experience takes great diligence, great committment and a lot of time ...I don't see many people really really changing without the time commitment ...BK has said that in each moment we are believing a concept ...ie suffering or undoing a concept...the vast majority are not mindful in each moment...even if they practice it ...and even doing the work once a day, in my opinion...still leaves many more unquestioned thoughts ....I have been seriously practising meditation for years ...and am often with those who devote their entire time to 'waking up '.......still it is not easy. We have to be willing to go through many so called unpleasant sensations ....boredom, tiredness, hunger, physical pain ...not to mention negative emotions .......to question these over and over as we have been so conditioned for so long ....for me, I am not interested in anything much else, so devote a lot of time to it...as I don't really see the value in anything else .....and there is a recognition that this is a special time now ....and it isn't always so ...so almost a case of now or never...using the valuable opportunity...however hard it is sometimes ( and that is also a thought to be questioned ...the conditioned mind is so cunning in trying to stop liberation ....)..... I think in our society ...so much based on wanting, we have to go against the flow of society....which is always challenging .....I find the work works but needs real commitment ...along with a mindfulness practice ...where one aims for mindfulness in every moment of the day ....leading to a concentration practice ...where the mind can become very focused and concentrated on one object ...then such investigation of thoughts is much easier and more effective ...and in my experience this takes a willingness to give up a lot of what society thinks is normal and needed and to spend considerble time in stillness and solitude ...or in community or on retreats which support this. In my opinion/experience any apparent sacrifices are more than worth it and yield something far more wonderful than anything we can 'get' otherwise/through sense pleasure fulfillment of any kind ..... With love ...
