Hi, I would like to get a Wise card, but I want to know if I can receive money from the USA to Azerbaijan for my freelance business. Are there any restrictions, or could you please clarify this for me?

Hey there. Depending on where your Wise account is located, you can order a Wise card. For more info on this, feel free to check here: wi.se/cardavailability Also, please keep in mind, that in order to send/ receive payments on behalf of a business, using Wise, you'd need to open a business account with us. But, if your business is located in Azerbaijan, you won't be able to open a business account with us at this time, as Wise business accounts aren't yet available in Azerbaijan. However, if/when this changes, we'll be sure to let our customers know. @@Wise oh I will wait for update then but if I'm considering using Wise to receive money from friends in countries like the US, Germany, and the UK to my personal account in Azerbaijan. is this possible? Thanks!

So while we do offer personal accounts for residents of Azerbaijan, we currently can't offer balances (Which would be required to receive money to your Wise account). With that said, if your friends have Wise accounts, they can still send payments to your local bank account, although we don't yet support the local AZN (Manat) currency, so it would have to be in USD, EUR or GBP sent via SWIFT: wi.se/swiftpayments Should you like to see us add AZN in future, we have a wishlist for this here: wi.se/wishlist 🙂

Hi Lujay. To clarify, with Wise, you can hold money in 40+ currencies, and convert between them at the real exchange rate whenever you need. It’s free to sign up, and there are no monthly fees. Hello Wise. I would like to move all my funds from my local German Bank to Wise as it facilitates my international payments. Will it be possible to send "higher" amounts like 10K Euro without problem to my account, or will Wise need a proof of my income etc and check those transactions? My biggest fear is that my money gets frozen but I love the service of Wise. What can I do?

Thank you for sharing this; I have been wondering about the same thing. I am not sure how you came up with the 1.43% difference. Also, It would be helpful if you could provide summarized totals. For example: I can see that you spent 508.46 Euros for a 5,800 Kroners. What would be nice is to see how many Euros you were charged for xxx Kroners spent on the credit card.

Thank you for your comment! We are glad that you found the video helpful. The 1.43% figure comes from a screenshot of a bank statement - on one of them, you can see this difference from the ECB rate. Different transactions had different fees on top of the exchange rate. Regarding the total calculations: yes, we showed how much euro was deducted for converting individual transactions but didn't provide a total sum. This is largely because different amounts were spent with the Wise card and the bank card during the trip. However, for future reviews, it indeed makes sense to conduct such a detailed experiment. 💯 In this video, we concluded that for just over 2 euros, we converted more than two and a half times the amount of money with Wise compared to a regular bank card. Therefore, it can be expected that the difference in spending would be roughly proportional - two and a half times higher with this specific bank card. Hence, it is beneficial to convert the amount with Wise in one go and then use it in the country of you destination like a local. Thank you for your suggestions!

Hey, I just made my Wise account, but I mistyped my name during the registration process. I contacted the support and provided a picture with my ID. Is there anything I need to do for my name to be typed correctly? Do I have to make a new virtual card, because the current one has the incorrect name?

You should still be good to use any digital cards that you've created. You'll need to be 18 years or older to use our services - it's because of how we're regulated. Hi Ian. You won't be able to order a replacement card because our Wise card isn't available in Thailand just yet. You can sign up for the waitlist, and we'll let you know as soon as it becomes available there: wi.se/joincardwaitlist When you move to Thailand, you can update your address on your Wise account by following these steps: wi.se/change-personal-details Once you’ve changed your details there, we’ll be in touch if we need to verify your address again. The card's availability is based on your residence, so if you move to a region where we can't offer it, you won't be able to see a replacement option either (Regardless of delivery address).
