One of the best (though still to this very day, criminally underrated) players ever, speaking glowingly & giving praise/respect to the *very best* football player of all-time. Gotta love it!!! Much respect. 👊🏼

Fully agree, its not about statistics, not about money from Qatar, not about social media, not being surrounded by the support of Cruijff. R9 did the same for different top clubs despite 3 career breaking injuries. The only reason Fifa doesnt give him the title is because of money.

Prime R9 was amazing and blessed to have seen him play and lived those moments. He could just destroy a team in style and grace. Pace, strength, height, skills, ball control, step overs, shoulder drop, movement, football IQ, samba joga bonito. Damn. He was the Perfect Striker. He was unstoppable. He was the Kaido of his Era, on a 1v1 always bet on Ronaldo. Deadliest 1v1 player in history. He literally disappeared in front of defenders. Defenders knew what was coming but they couldn't keep up. When Ronaldo got pass players, they were more in awe than embarrassed. Yes that was so true. He was one of them like main characters in anime. Still to this day, I don't see a defense who can stop or shut him down, I mean defense back then was more superior compared to nowadays

He never reached his prime as a footballer though. A footballer's prime is when he's in his late 20s right? R9 got his first major injury at the age of 23.

He was the best at what he did, dribbling & finishing but Messi is close, however when it comes to vision, creativity, passing etc, R9 is no where near, add to that Messi has done it for 20 years!
@giovannigio37642 ай бұрын
Than you did NOT check history. Before R9 had 2 major injuries and a disease he did things from a very young age that Messi could not do and beside his performances where his stats much better. And a destroyed R9 at 60% was still better in the world cup as Messi on 100%. R9 had moves and some passing that Messi didn't do. For example he did it with his shoulder. Messi did have a better career but Messi is not even in the top 5 young players/talents.
@the-gang-of-wolves2 ай бұрын
@@giovannigio3764 how do injuries prevent your vision and passing? if anything it makes you drop into a deeper more playmaker type of role? Link me a clip of his passing, playmaking and please bare in mind he's one of the best of all time, even an average player can pass sideways or a few imaginative passes in their career.
@@the-gang-of-wolvesI don’t agree with etc…vision n creativity yes.. Messi is a little better..I’d add in longevity. Not in strength, speed, heading, height, tricks. They r both close in technically n first touch tho..

Absolutely not. He uses too much energy and I can't see him getting past 4 in a controlled manner the way Messi can. Messi dribbles with precision and anticipation. I just think people are trying to just choose an alternative bcos Messi ain't human.

I’m not a Brazil fan, so Ronaldo was absolutely terrifying. I absolutely hated Argentina and always celebrated their losses. But Messi had me celebrating their win at the last World Cup. The difference is Maradona had already done what Messi did on the pitch like 20+ years before and this was in much harder leagues + defenders and on worser pitches. R9 was unique nobody really saw the skills and dribbles he was doing before in history. He set the blueprint for future strikers in the late 90s and early 00s

From ages 19-22 el phenomenon did what no players could. Play with so much skill, confidence, technical quality. No fear. Not even cr7 or Messi was at that levels. You need to see the soft touch and fouls of today, what cr7 got and to what R9 had to got through in his psv, barca and then inter milan career. You need to see his play during the tough italian league during the late 90s he recieved. He was from a different planet. Its called Brazil.
