Hello guys,
I have to apologyze with you cause I have not been present in this start of the year. Unfortunately lacking of time and bad winter weather stopped me to realize my RC hobby projects. By the way I did not loose the will to share some contents and ideas with all of you and hope with a better season to be back.
I have to say this project was not easy at all for some reasons.
The main reason is that there is very limited gap between the ground and the undertray (about 5-7mm). When the speed increases, the car that is already very low, grinds with the undertray over the tarmac due to the ground effect
I reinforced the suspensions to be as stiffy as possible expecially in the back, cause the car squats pretty much on acceleration, hitting the bottom.
By the way, if the running surface is not very flat is very hard to control the vehicle. So basically, it's necessary to lift the car loosing downforce efficiency. And that's the problem that even the actual F1 cars are suffering nowadays.
So I am very happy to have the chance to replicate this awesome physic phenomenon, but on the other side I got to say that it's very very hard to maximize the performances. The same car with a normal rake setup it's even slightly faster.
Here is the setup of the car:
Motor: SurpassHobby Rocket 5.5 V3 sensored
ESC: Easy Turbo ET120, 2-3s sensored esc 120Amps, basically an advanced clone of Hobbywing quicrun series.
Battery: 3s Lipo 2200mA 120C
