I just found your channel and videos on the wl toys 12429,this was the first rc I bought when I got back into the hobby in 2019. I haven't run it in quite some time because it wasn't a good crawler with the open diffs and it really wasn't that fast but after watching your upgrades to it,I think I'm going to do something similar. I have some extra electronics that I took out of other rc cars that I did upgrades to. Thank you for the awesome videos. Keep up the great work

I´ve been waiting to see how this project turned out - and it´s a great success! You´ve really given this buggy a chance to shine, with decent esc, motor, tyres and suspension making the most of the chassis, and a cool Stormtrooper theme to take advantage of the futuristic styling. If ever we wondered why the Empire was able to recruit so many young men to serve an evil cause, well, I´d say that the possibility of being issued a buggy like this one would be a powerful incentive to join up! I´d like to see how it does in the forest, with steep dirt banks and gnarly tree roots providing the challenges.

Thank you Del it actually did better than expected I would also like to try it on some climbs and trails hope to get a chance soon

@@AdventureTimeRC To me, it´s more interesting to see how well this RC buggy will crawl than some expensive thing from Axial. We know they´ll do well, but this has more humble beginnings, and if it does do well then that will be directly to your credit : )

Nice! If you want more power do what I did with mine I ground the motor mount and then used a smaller pinion gear it worked great.
@modelnutty65033 жыл бұрын
Virhuck has the motor plate on a cam+clamp arrangement, any pinion you like and turn it to mesh, lock the clamp screws down. really easy convenient but its for 380-390 size motors. also cool is the spur gear has a slipper.

definitely redo the stock shocks, it'll ride even smoother. top speed is only a little fast but great for having fun with as a bouncer! that shell with the storm-trooper is perfect!
@AdventureTimeRC3 жыл бұрын
I like the rear lower than the front on my bouncer s seems to stay on the wheels more but I might redo the front shocks
@modelnutty65033 жыл бұрын
@@AdventureTimeRC yupyup, the rear OWL (one wheel lift) is just fine with the new shocks, up front she's stiff. the Virhuck springs do look like more turns per inch than the WLtoys for the rears, if same for fronts I'd trim 3/4 turn and flatten new end, then test. push front down let it pop back, is it 1/8 to 3/16 less than fully stood? 3/16 is about nice, because accelerating and climbing the weight shifts aft. for the rears there's 3 holes top+bottom both, after softening and oil filling, used middle holes at both ends, rear squats accelerating+climbing anyway with the weight transfer. fronts are a little trickier because they're so much shorter+stiffer, with the cantilever being a force+travel multiplier right in the middle of it all. they also lay flat is why I went light grease filled, oil wasn't enough resistance+damping. the stock shock threaded body and spring collars take care of final setup position+stiffness real easy after the spring trimming "chore"... making the new ends flat after the cut is "fun". if one rear spring is longer, right rear squats more nailing throttle because rear diff bevel pinion force, left front always lifting with a "dragster launch". do the WLtoys springs fit the new front shocks? they could be trimmed and swapped in so you keep a matched set on the buggy. after softening games here, can lift any wheel 3.5" with other 3 tires still down flat, all 4 stock shock spring collars are spun all the way up. when you lifted the rear tire, looks like close to +4" of lift, may be a little "extra" soft.. you'll know when climbing steep (if it squats too far and wants to back flip itself), if you want to run the rear shock collars down 1/8". this style chassis+suspension is definitely fun modifying! V-01 RTR for 43 bucks free shipping was a super bargain basement price.
