Last week I saw a jaw dropping prefab home on instagram and knew I had to go see it in person. The home was built by Adaptive Homes, a prefab home company building some of the coolest modular structures I have been able to see in person. In this video I get the very first look at a 2500 square foot 3 story prefab home with a stunning mountain view. This was not a normal build and didn't follow their normal process, watch and learn more about this amazing prefab home.

FYI, the new owners of this house are my family members. They spent three years researching house designs and construction methods, and interviewed several local builders. They have many years of experience in development and construction. This is the design and construction type that suits their lifestyle and budget. They have been fully involved in the whole process. I have complete confidence in their choices, and I know it will be beautiful when finished.

Having to pay for the enormous overhead of a huge assembly factory is the bane of many prefab companies. Finishing a lot of it on-site seems like a way to reduce costs, but maybe also negates some of the supposed advantages of true prefab such as the frame not getting wet.

Ooh a site visit, we love these. I like that there is a proper entrance where you can drop off the outdoors. No mention of the living or kitchen space(s), but I imagine they will be on the top level to tkae advantage of the views.

Thanks Kerry. We will keep this in mind . Not for today, but within the next 2 years. Presently on Olympic Peninsula ( cannot see that 3 story home from here , but we CAN see Vancouver Island - not kidding ). Always nice to have quality options. And…… as far as security camera go, I have been thinking about a night cam to watch a wild fox that I leave a plate of food for every evening, We have been doing that dinner date thing for about 2 years. Would be exciting to see him/her on camera more close up.

Really good tour and the commentary you had with the developer was very interesting. I’m looking forward to seeing the outside cladding. I also wondered what the ceiling height was in the home. It looked low in that mudroom, but perhaps that was an optical illusion. Cheers!

Great video as usual. Please do more videos of houses in these larger size ranges. The ADUs and very small homes that you usually do are starting to get a bit boring. You make the best of those style homes, but you can only do so much in less than 800 sq ft.

The price of this house has to be thousands of dollars, maybe hundreds of thousands above what most people can afford. Do they offer any reasonably priced options?

Wish you'd include as "standard info" in the vids what powers" (electric, natural gas, oil, coal (JK, I hope), solar, etc,) these homes. A brief mention of "passive" and "net zero" ... would have nice to expand upon, as interpreted by this builder. Finally, any "new tech" typically in these builds, e.g. internal air filtration, wild fire mitigation, etc.

This is prefab? The rooms look small and the height of the doors and ceiling look low. It will be great to see the finished project. It will either feel "cozy" or "cramped," kind of like when Kerry shares the couch with both his girlfriend and an extra large bag of Doritos.

I'm not a fan of multi-story homes. It's going to be rough to have to climb so many stairs all the time. I see a lot of small windows on otherwise featureless exterior walls. I can't imagine that this will be very attractive when finished. The interior doesn't look like it's going to be anything special either. Just sayin'. I'm also wondering what the point of prefab is in this case.

You can fit more square footage on a smaller lot space with a smaller foundation. Also, speed of construction. Windows weren’t all small, those facing the view were significant. Siding types will determine the exterior attractiveness, cannot really go by the way that the furring strips look.

Nowhere on his channel does he specify that he's showing "affordable" homes. YOU just want to only see affordable homes. Also keep in mind that other people have a higher budget for affordability..

Why do you believe that the “whole” point of a prefab home is affordability? Note that after he meets the cofounder the first thing to discuss is net 0 and high-performance characteristics. These are things that at this time that are expensive to do but have demand in the market.Over time, the cost of these units will come down as volume increases, but may never equate to the definition of affordability. these are not manufactured homes in the traditional sense of the word. By constructing them offsite they have a higher level of quality control as it relates to the high performance and net 0 construction processes. In that way, building this as a prefab home is likely less expensive than building a home with equivalent characteristics on site, so in that manner, it is more affordable. BTW- prefab does not mean production line homes, it merely means prefabricated off site and brought to the site. A prefab home can be a one of a kind custom home. This is not meant as a negative statement, but I think you may misunderstand or misinterpret the breadth of the definition of what a prefab home is.

Oh man that timber looks like grade A stuff. Wish I could find that at a reasonable price. This a pre fab looks just like a build on site. How about everything is cut with the best material on a plan and building on site.
