Silk wings are actually based off of silkworms (A silkworm is a Caterpillar) As they spin silk, but they are also based off of butterflies too, hence they get their wings.

Another thing SeaWings might be based off of: Dragonfish :) They have glow in the dark scales, webs, and live in deep water.

(originally based off tropical birds) rainwings are also based of of sloths! their talons show it :) and nightwings are also based off of Komodo dragons! edit: yes ik monitor lizards are a type of komodo dragon, but komodos have a venom/ooze that helps kill prey like nightwings do.

I recently learned that HiveWings are aren't just based off wasps, but a variety of parasitic insects

most people probably haven’t thought of this, but RainWings are more similar to Jurassic Park’s dilophosaurus since to the bright red colors on frills and acid venom.. and chameleons (obviously)

For those of you who haven’t looked carefully at the dragons head designs, the rain wings have frills behind their ear they extend when they’re being expressive or are shooting their venom. I don’t remember what their name is, (Dilophosaurus, I think) but they have frills in that not only look and move similarly, but they also extend when they are feeling aggressive, or threatened. Did I mention they also extend it when they want to use their poisonous venom that acts very similarly to rain wing venom?

I feel like IceWings are actually just regular dragons but with icicles everywhere plus some frostbreath and much glitter

Due to toothless being named because when Hiccup first met him due to no teeth, Tui decided to name Night wings after their talents or looks, EXAMPLE: Wise 'mind or possibly Tear 'cry. Another thing, Night wings got those dark black scales that were also inspired off Night Furies. ( and for loll's I say that ice wings were inspired off of the light fury or snow 'wraith lol }

I know MudWings are based off of crocodile because of their looks and their eggs, but I personally think that they would be based of of chickens. Hear me out. Chickens can be stronger and bigger than usual, like most MudWings. They also love to eat. Chickens were literally programmed for eating everything, and MudWings love eating too. (My chickens were eating foam today, they were curious on what is was, and couldn't stop, so I had to stop them.) Mudwings also love mud. the same way chickens love dirt. Chickens normally dust bathe and stay there for 15-20 minutes, that only being around 1/3 of an average MudWing time in mud. So those are my reasons why I think MudWings could also be based off of chickens. I can go on and on with other facts, but I think listing 3 is enough for my opinion.
