This summer has probably been THE most significant for decades... gone are the workhorses like Henderson & Milner....in came skillful, aggressive, forward passing & forward running players like Szoboszlai .... It's a whole different game !

Not a Liverpool fan, but man what a pick up for them. He's a massive reason Liverpool have found their form again and are back pushing for the title. Can't wait to see what he's able to accomplish in his career because he has a long and very successful one ahead of him.

If there weren't 2 people in front of him, only one, then the net would tear from his goals!!! But coach Klopp knows what he's doing!!! Domi will not score as many goals as in Lepzieg, (Liverpool's forward line is good!) Sobo now has to do his job well and he is doing it! Of course it was worth it, the price is going up!

I, as a lifelong Liverpool supporter, said after the world cup we absolutely need MacAllister. While I still think that, Szoboszlai has surprised me in a way I couldn’t have imagined. These guys are a machine. Glad he’s on board with us Reds. YNWA.

Szobo has the brain and the brawn, the skill and the spirit, the creativity and the energy. It's not a conundrum whether having CR7 or Messi, but rather having both. Szobo has the skill, the body size, the body fitness and the willingness to give all to the last whistle. But even better, Szobo is humble and hard working. The flair player tend to be lazy (like Messi), but not Szobo. The superstar (like CR7) tend to act like a diva, but not Szobo.

To call Messi lazy is a bit false, all his coaches know that he is the best player in the world, a player that can and will always create something out of nothing if he gets running with the ball at his feet, so of course they don’t want him to tire needlessly by tracking back or running around in defense. Same thing with Ronaldo and scoring goals. Either way, back to Szoboszlai, he is a beast that combines both elements fantastically, although not at their level of course but that doesn’t make him any less world-class.

Why do you even compare Szobo with CR7 and Messi in the first place? 1 is midfielder and the other 2 are forwards. Obviously there will be differences in the defending/pressing output.

@@morgantisdale6928 Still not fair to compare between midfielders & forwards. I would not want my forwards to press as much as my midfielders, because if they are tired, who's gonna score my goals? Therefore U see in Argentina setup, Messi does not press while his 9 teammates do all the pressing, so he will have as much full tank as possible to do a successful attack

Szoboszlai is the best signing in the summer transfer window that is for sure and just how Klopp has built a brand new Midfield and Szoboszlai is called Duracell because he definitely has an engine on him. Liverpool had no Champions League but yet the pulling power of Klopp has showed. Then add Mac Allister another player who wanted to play under Klopp then add Gravenberch along with Endo as well. We must have one of the best midfielders in world football that is for sure roll on Toulouse then Forest on Sunday. YNWA

Szobo has shown all the skills, pace, shot and field vision needed to be a super star. I believe he also has the killer competitive instinct. As a basketball fan, I compare him to Larry Bird in competitive mindset. At home, Bird would treat the opposition like they have broken into his house and want to steal bread off of his family's dinner table.

Szoboszlai made an absolutely ridiculous sprinting dribble against Everton before laying off to Diaz for a blocked shot. What caught my eye is that dribbling with ball he was faster than any of the blue shirts. (I doubt anyone else in the league can do that, including Nunez and Salah.). And he was not just pushing the ball far up field and hauling arse, but making controlled Messi/Zidane quality touches.

Loved this analysis thanks. I'm not as good with the technical aspects of football but just on what I do understand, Szoboszlai is a great signing for us so far. As you said, he's a fan favourite and has really connected with existing team members and the wider club set-up

I think Szobo is held back a bit so far, possible as he's adapting to Klopp's requirements of the midfield 3 or double-pivot (which makes him play deeper), and also the 2 games where we were down to 10-men (and then 9 men vs Spurs) for long periods. Part of this is we're lacking a proper No.6 who's press-resistant, which could in-theory enable Szobo a bit more freedom to play higher up the pitch. Hopefully, between Jones, Endo and MacAllister, we get a settled No.6 (maybe not a traditional defensive destroyer like Hamann or Marscherano) and see more of Szobo in the final 3rd as we move into the 2nd half of the season.

Good observation. Also notice that the rest of the players want to score themselves thus even in opportune time they do not pass to him. Lets hope this will change to the goal advantage to the team.

Liverpool's previous mids lacked creativity and long range power. McAllister, Szob and Grav give Liverpool lots of movement creativity and long range power. Hard to stop that.

His attack output is still high but have drop to compensate for the fact that he is used as both a 6 and a 8. Honestly, I wish liverpool just have a better 6 than Mac so that Szob can just be used as an advanced 8. Will be interesting to compare his output and Bellingham output when use in the same position. But they really need him in the midfield battle, without him they may drop another 6-8 points already.

Mac is improving. First game he is good in no 6. Szob is used higher up and he got 2 assists. This may be the norm going forward.
