Күн бұрын

Night 3 of 3! The last two nights were pretty eventful... It was like the bush was alive all around me as I laid there on the soft, padded carpet floor of my Wolf blind. Some would think it would be a bit scary hearing things go bump in the night, but I always wonder "What kind of critter is that?".
This overnighter was met by gusts of wind, snow & then rain almost all night & into the morning. But a little weather didn't get me down!
Stay tuned as we continue to move forward until the seasons end come March 31, 2024 - The next time we will be in the blind will most likely be March 30th, or March 31st for a final sit before the closure... Stay tuned!

Still time brother ! Glad you are showing what it’s really like out there though , it’s refreshing to see that it doesn’t always work out the way we plan it in our heads . Just gotta stick with it . Thanks for taking us along on another hunt

Sometimes your hunt is over in 20 minutes... Other times you have to hunt for an entire season just to see a Wolf with your own two eyes LOL!

Good for you to get out and be one with nature. Best way to decompress in my opinion!!!!!! Always hold out hope, you only need 10 seconds to fill the tag for a lifetime of memories. Don't forget wolf 🐺fever is a thing and a good way to miss work!!!!!!!!!! hahahahahahaha Be safe brother, Scott

LOL! No way brother - Age is but a mindset... Although I do know some folks have underlying things going on that sometimes can get in the way of doing certain things in the bush.

I love the blind you made. If possible, save some money so you can get a night vision scope. We had a clan of raccoons come in to hit our chicken coop last year. Got tired of having them try to dig under and in while babies sat on the roof clawing and growling. Put the night vision scope, got it from Kittery Trading Post here in Maine, on my .22,with a small flash light, and it changed the battle. Took out a couple of coyotes at backyard wood line with the scope on regular light, perfect lung shot. The solution to making a night shot is vision and night vision is necessary for the quick kill shot in total darkness. Your property is beautiful and the fur gods will smile upon you, no doubt about that.

I could for sure get a night scope for viewing & capturing content for you guys, but in Canada we cannot hunt at night, unless you hunt with dogs & a .22 but even that is ONLY for Raccoon hunts. I am looking into night scopes JUST for viewing & capturing content, but I need someone to recommend one to me that isn't $1,000 LOL

@@davidmunch6917 You are correct my friend!!!! I still wouldn't mind getting one to capture content while I am in the blind overnight - The rifle & bow are always cased up but I get curious about whats walking around my blind so the night scope would benefit in capturing some cool night vision shot observations!

Hahahahah I think Ravens are not included in our hunting season but I'd have to double check! They are such intelligent birds - You just have to know how to use them & read their body language. The moment they fly up off the bait to nearby trees, you know a Wolf or Coyote is nearby... Its a great indication to stay quite & be attentive! I sat at Franklin's bait site in an open hydro cut a few weeks in a row a few years back - The Ravens flew up into nearby trees & so I got my binoculars out & saw a Wolf sticking its head out from the bush line... I almost missed the big dog but luckily I knew because of the Raven's behaviour to be more attentive. That big dog ended up tucking back into the bush but it was still nice seeing it!

It’s a tough gig sitting and waiting. I’ve got a guy on my trapline doing the same. He hauls in loads of bait and puts it out on the lake then sits in a blind. He goes out most weekends once it’s cold, sleds in and sets up for the weekend. I don’t think he’s got one in the last few years, but I’ve snared over a dozen in the same area 😁. It would definitely be more rewarding to shoot one though.

I hear you in regards to sitting over a bait site... Often times snaring will win over rifle hunting because (not that its easy but) you set a bait in the bush, or on a lake... Then you set your snares 50 yards all around your bait site so that when the dogs smell the bait, they start to circle to ensure its "safe"... Well, when they circle the bait, BOOM caught in a snare LOL I like the idea of snares working while you sleep too - I can't wait to get my trappers licence this year so I can begin snaring!
