Wikipedia: "A Frankfurter Würstchen (German for Frankfurt sausage) is a thin parboiled sausage made of pure pork in a casing of sheep's intestine. The special taste is acquired by a special method of low temperature smoking. For consumption, Frankfurters are not cooked; they are only heated in hot water for about eight minutes which prevents the skin from bursting. They are traditionally served with bread, mustard, horseradish and/or potato salad."

What you have to remember is that BJ is so physically large, he had to get his Nazi costume custom-tailored in order to fit his frame. This simple gate-security officer, occupying one of the most boring positions in the entirety of the Third Reich, is in the midst of witnessing two of the largest men he's ever met (one of whom is so large that it looks like he could eat the other one) stand in a very, *very* tense moment. This is probably one of my all time favorite video game scenes. Made me genuinely laugh and feel afraid at the same time. I don't think any game has every mixed those two emotions for me before.
@sneakykng7687 жыл бұрын
is this a reference to how in wolfenstein 3d they sounded like they yelled HOT DOG!
@adamaucoin95647 жыл бұрын
No its because his last name was Frankfurter and in America another word for hotdog is a frank.
@champdude177 жыл бұрын
+Amam Aucoin You are also wrong, Frankfurter is a German sausage similar to a hotdog, it's making fun of Americans lack of understanding of the rest of the world.
@WildWestBudgie7 жыл бұрын
It's a joke referencing when President Kennedy said "Ich bin ein Berliner" instead of "Ich bin Berliner" supposedly being a mistake by saying "I am a Berliner (pastry)" instead of "I am a Berliner (citizen)" when it's not really a mistake at all. I don't know how people here don't know such common history.
@SrGwynnbleid7 жыл бұрын
WildWestBudgie well maybe not every internet user is American? What do you know about Kazakhstani president for instance?
@WildWestBudgie7 жыл бұрын
Gwynbleidd President Kennedy was a famous historical politician known around the world. The President of Kazakhstan is not.

Even when I'm not playing the game this guys stature and attitude unsettles me, what a great game not only in graphics and gameplay, but also in the way it conveys its characters and the way they can have said characters create an emotional response in players and even in those viewing.

PurpleStorm8 What's ironic is that he's fought Nazis ever since the beginning of the war (I'd say a good 5 or so years), so you'd think he'd pick up on some vocabulary from all the enemy chatter.

Shengwu Chang Frankfurter, in German, means hot dog.

+Atomic Biscuit specifically, Frankfurters are hot dogs prior to WW1, when they changed the name in the US.

Everyone is dissing the guard for letting public enemy number #1 through, but if *my* job was passport-checking and somebody that looked just like the superman whose killed thousands of soldiers with his bare hands that the vets tell horror stories about showed up, I’d probably let them through and pray it’s just a coincidence too.

Just some background information/Austrian folk tale, each profession in the German speaking world in the Middle Ages had a “Zunft”, a gild, which basically defined the rules of the trade. A man from Frankfurt invented sausages of finely ground meat which were cooked in the process, which was forbidden by Frankfurt's butchers' gild, but _not_ in Vienna, so he moved there. Needless to say, his sausages were a big success still very much in demand to this day. His sausages are known as “Frankfurter” in Austria, because the inventor was from that city, but are usually called “Wiener Würstchen” (“Vienna-sausages”) everywhere else because they were first sold here. Have a nice day!
