The Wolverine Airsoft MTW (Modular Training Weapon) is a highly versatile airsoft option, built from the ground up to deliver the best HPA experience possible.
Available in multiple configurations, the MTW series allows users to dial-in exactly what they want from an airsoft rifle, or design a platform that can adapt to a multitude of different roles.
A sniper/DMR role - No problem, crank up the power and opt for the longest barrel...
Something for CQB - select the 7" setup and dial in your trigger like a mouse click.
The MTW, while not a replica of any given real-steel system, can adapt to perform a multitude of roles in the airsoft world.

I've had 2 different Wolverine MTWs in 3 years. I sold my first one as I was legit bored of using it and smacking everybody, and it was the longest version they had and I wanted to move down to a 10 inch carbine; get the best of both worlds in terms of range and maneuverability since I also like indoor. All I can say from my experience is that while Polarstars do indeed offer immense trigger response and fire rates, the MTWs fit perfectly in the middle in terms of performance. Why I love my MTW is that in both of my Polarstar builds I have been working on, an LMG with an F2 and an MCX with a Jack, I have had constant feeding and alignment issues where depending on the day they will work or completely not work and feed, while my MTW just works. These reviews, or more in your own words overview in general, seem to overlook how you can't just buy a pre-assembled Polarstar gun (excluding the 'custom guns' built by a third party that cost more than the MTWs by far). That's talking about the cost of purchasing a donor gun (btw to get one on the level of the MTW's metal construction is already 200+ dollars or 150+ pounds as you're in the UK) to use the body and gearbox to put the Polarstar (F2's are 400+ dollars) into, and then the work and time to put it together and align it all correctly. I've always held the same opinion about my MTW since I got my first one; They are great HPA guns where you don't have to worry about almost anything, just open the box and plug in and play. And for that reason I will always own one and recommend one to anyone looking to get into HPA. However, that doesn't mean I think they are the best rifle out there or the best HPA system, I see them somewhere in the middle; fairly good and reliable. Does what it says on the tin basically

Thankyou, yes I'll absolutely do a maintenance video in the future. Its not something that needs any real servicing on a regular basis. The barrel is mainly the thing you'll be looking to clear most id imagine. Other than that, the engine might need alittle grease every six months or so and maybe some replacement O-rings once a year if you like. In terms of maintenance, you'll be hard pressed to find anything that requires less attention from the user.

I am annoyed with everyone always suggesting HPA is easy to cheat with. If that is true that is totally the fault of the field you play at. Our fields simply mandate the use of a tournament lockable regulator and lock them themselves after you have chrono-ed your RIF with them. After that HPA is the most consistent system out there. I don’t see anyone testing lipo voltage before the rifs get chronod… Changing to a full battery after is much easier than meddling with a tournament locked HPA rig. Just my two cents. I use HPA and love it for its consistency. Not because it is OP… because it isn’t.

Is your MTW Billet the version 2 or the first generation? I was wanting to get a Forged series but there aren't any in the country (apparently for a few months still!) and from what I have heard the Forged has a better FCU for better trigger response in semi. Is the Billet good enough (given that it is the only one in stock)? Secondly, you said you have the stock barrel and hop unit, you haven't been tempted yet to install the Phoenix or Maxx hop units? Lastly, great vid, very informative and honest, I like it!
@pewpewpaladin
@pewpewpaladin 2 жыл бұрын
First off - thanks for the positive comments, they are always appreciated! Yeah mine is a version 2. The forged has a few little improvements over the billet, but not to the extent that I think you'd notice a world of difference when in the heat of a good skirmish. There also seems to be some debate as too how good the improvements are when comparing to the upgrades available elsewhere (such as the hop units, barrels etc) and its not uncommon to hear of people putting the same upgrades in their forged rifle. I've not been tempted to upgrade mine yet, because I've been very impressed with the out of the box performance - especially when pitted against all my other gear. But I will upgrading the hop & barrell in the future at some point - I'm kind of the mindset that if it isn't broke, don't fix it.

I own several HPA systems including a mtw and a inferno mk46 lmg. They are good systems, but there are several reasons I believe it's not the best of the best: -The inferno system as a whole is a hybrid bolt system, not full closed like the reaper, f2, fusion engine, or n7 systems. This makes is not as accurate and efficient as a true closed bolt system (the mtw being a purpose built rifle around the engine minimizes the disadvantages of not being closed bolt by providing perfect allignment and spacing from the hop) -The biggest complaint I had was the original fcu programming with the mtw had a trigger delay. This means no spamming the trigger like polarstar allows. -the dwell and nozzle timing are not as adjustable as the polarstar systems without using an updated fcu or gorilla fcu. -the max rof on infernos to feed has always been lower than polarstars -The mtw uses a shitty line that can break. For close to 700+ it should have a better line and it's not ment to accept amped airsoft lines -the stock mtw hop up is ok, but left alot to be desired especially in auto feeding. This is why they came out with the Phoenix hop I think it serves as a mid tier hpa gun people can buy without the headaches of alligntmet that come with installing such a system,and having to tune things like nozzles and poppets. However a true closed bolt system installed correctly will outperform the mtw in terms of accuracy, auto rof, and air efficiency. Also for cqb the mtw with stock electronics would get wrecked by all polarstar systems for trigger spamming. Theres a reason you dont see any speedqb people using infernos. Great review tho I really got your love for the systems versatility!

That Sir, is an in-depth analysis! Thanks for the input. I love hearing other peoples views on stuff, and its obvious from your comments that you have a great deal of knowledge on the HPA world. @@pewpewpaladin My a&k mk 46 has the following: -Inferno gen2 lmg edition with bluetooth and pre soldered connectors for box mags. -Bullgear cnc hop up, maple leaf 70degree MR. Hop bucking+omega nub, Prometheus 6.03 375mm barrel -highspeed rc motor box mag wired to fcu I run this with a ninja carbon fiber 90inch 4500psi tank. The bluetooth adjustments of dwell makes it much more efficient than the spartan or standard inferno fcus tuning. Also the stock hop up in lmgs is trash and a major weak point, upgrading nothing but the hop up will see a increase in efficiency and accuracy. Maple leaf MR Hop mimics a rhop patch for fantastic seal and the extra barrel length allows for higher fps at lower psi. Using my set up I can get 1.5j with .32s at 60psi and my tank lasts a whole day of playing. However the fusion engine and f2 I've tested could both be more fine tuned especially since the f2 comes with the red poppet stock which is very efficient. The fusion engine can be made even better with its plethora of nozzles, springs, and poppets Anyone getting an mtw I highly recommend the gorilla triggerboard and fcu as it allows for precise bluetooth adjustments and is weather proof along with a nicer trigger feel (click like microswitch vs inferno soft button tab)

@@jhqtech After researching and deliberating for over 8 months,my buddy and I opted for the MTW. Another guy on our field who is sponsored by Polarstar echo'd your views on the adjustability and tunability but he also said he had to deal with alignment issues more than he would like. I played paintball competatively for just over 20 years, and was our team gun tech for 10. I put reliability at the top of my list, along with accuracy. I have a 6.03 Promy barrel, Phoenix Hop, salient industries hop up arm, and maple leaf 60* bucking with .43 BBs. We are hitting torsos at 250 and bodies at 285ft (roughly). A high end tank regulator will make consistancy even which will improve accuracy. I run a Ninja 90CI tank in my pack, and i just wrap a towel around it and it doesnt move at all. I HATE the trigger but am going to look at the Guerilla board you recommended, but as a stock gun with small upgrades, it is easily performing with and in many cases BETTER that the high end HPA and AEG setups at our field. So much so, that our whole team, except for one, all use MTWs (14 of us).
@jhqtech
@jhqtech 2 жыл бұрын
@@TheTarotCardGuy yup allignment is always the bane of HPA, and I think that's the mtws best point that you dont have to deal with that issue. The gorilla fcu alone is amazing (has binary and ramping for paintballers) the triggerboard has a click reminiscent of the ares amoeba aegs which I'm not the biggest fan of but is certainly an upgrade over the stock mtw. I also recommend the black leaf triggerboards as their button is closer to how the fusion engine feels (the best trigger in airsoft) And while I agree the mtw is very accurate at range, I've seen fusion engine dmr builds hitting 350ft consistently. For dmrs I recommend the kythera system, while less tunable obviously, its fully mechanical and consistent to being within +1 fps every shot. I run one in a sr25 with a 550mm barrel and it nails people at 300ft better than almost any other hpa system I've used. All of which I attribute to closed bolt being the superior system. I encourage you to try the reaper mtw, it will give even better accuracy and consistency despite not having full auto. You can see how wolverine moved towards the full closed bolt system but didnt want to do a full dual solenoid system and went for the more marketable full rifle build with a hybrid system that works well. If you ever get a chance to shoot a properly installed fusion engine, you'll never want anything else. And if you like paintball check out the tippmann m4...

The maintenance is next to zero. Id drop her into a tech once a year to have new rings etc... obviously you want to keep the barrel etc clean as you would any normal rifle. I'm pretty selective about my shots and I don't tend to spam the trigger... I doubt I even use 2000 bbs in a game day and I find the tank will cruise through 2-3 game days with this play style.

@pewpewpaladin

@ChadBroski-ek1ih It does require a battery, just to power the PCB. However, this can be as small as you can purchase as the draw is almost nothing. Bare in mind that the only space for the battery is inside your buffer tube, some stick batteries are best. Personally I use the same 7.4 lipo I put in my TM scar H - its nice and compact m, and what will usually last half a game day in the SCAR will power the MTW over several full game days.

@@pewpewpaladin Conditions are rough here in Southern Africa, weak airsoft shooters crumble before long. And GnG is proving to be our top performer, amidst the few brands we have available. It being Africa, we naturally get the scraps and having to fight for the last teet in regards to anything imported. A buddy of mine got a Wolverine, and its a beast, but anyone sufficiently skilled can use anything just as well. I recently bought an MP5 SD, and i wouldnt trade it for any MTW.
