An Air India passenger suffered a panic attack and was seen lying on the floor near the boarding gate inside Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport, after the Air India airlines' staff allegedly 'denied' their request to board the flight claiming that she was late. Air India claimed that three passengers had reported after the boarding gates were closed for a flight from Delhi airport even after their airport staff kept calling them to report before closure. The incident was reported at Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport on May 5. The video of the incident went viral on social media and led to backlash against Air India staff. No airline will wait for you if you fail to enter before boarding hour ends. I am also astonished to see some people`s dedication to making videos. If she felt so sick then why did she deny help from the doctor?

Starts recording when she is suffering in front of him and calls the staff🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ Why was his first reaction to record? I really don't blame the staff here, how can someone start recording and ask others to help? He had water but waited for other guy who didn't have it and then he asked the one with the camera... WTH is wrong with us?😭😭 Stop recording and help others in need...

She acted thinking the flight would be delayed so that she and her companions could board it. If she was actually having a panic attack, why would the guy not help her and instead record it, that too in a rude tone, and not an anxious one

We usually plan when to leave for airport as per the traffic conditions. And shooting a video instead of helping the patient speaks a lot. I strongly support the Airline here as they did what was suppose to be done. Same happens with Examination centres and i feel should be respected. 🙏

@@karthik99 and imagine if they had delayed their flight what would have been the reaction of other 200+ travellers.. they would have scolded the airline for getting late.. And also the schedule of airline is very tight.. slightest late in time could change lot of upcoming schudules... They are bound by international flying rules... Can't change those even if the airline officer personally feel like doing some exceptions..not easy buddy..

Dude, Air India is known for their pathetic service. I had to take this Godforbidden airline many times. Crew act as if they are doing you a favour. Support these kind of people, that's why our country cannot produce anything of world-class quality

How exactly is the airline at fault in this case. Security check is the responsibility of CISF and in any case if you are late for a flight, the airline has every right to deny entry. why should everyone suffer for a few people arriving late.

I stand with Air India on this. I’m sorry to say but there is 0 tolerance for not showing up on time. The audacity this man has to film his relative while she is in a bad state and causing her the embarrassment of having a video like this be circulating in the media for years is unbelievable! It would not have ended well for this man it was my relative.

Can't blame the airlines for your shortcomings. If they had so many complications and medical issues they should have planned ahead and arrived airport hours before and checked-in in advance. I have often seen people with physical disabilities or old age travellers etc coming hours ahead of the departure and checkin in. Air Port people are very professional, especially at IGI, and rules protocols are must!

Please read the clarification provided by the airlines first. Coming late and then having a panic attack because you are not allowed to board the plane should not be blamed on the airlines.

We have flown many times on different airlines. We have seen this happen many times when passengers do not pay attention and come late, I do not feel sorry for them. The airlines are not to blame. Passengers' lives are at risk, and that should not be jeopardized by late comers, whatever their reason.

Last time I was traveling to NL with my son, they messed up my baggage at the domestic airport. But once they realized their mistake the staff helped me out. They even called the checkin counter at the international airport and the lady there was waiting when I reached there. But an old couple at the immigration line picked up a fight with me for people were letting me skip the line. When they started abusing me loudly and I was panicking, the immigration officer announced that people whose flights are coming up should be left to cross the line on priority. My stars were aligned well that day. Things go wrong during long journeys sometimes but most of the time staff and other travelers are helping and accommodating. We don’t know what exactly transpired here.

All the passengers should abide by the rules, If rules are broken then obviously boarding will not be possible but the staff just sat at the desk and didn't even assist the passenger when she is having a panic attack

@@kumarm.....4108 So do our babus sitting in airport. I was going to US, the budda officer sitting in the airport have to question me unnecessarily. Why are you going to US. Who is there. Is that any of his business? All this is investigated by relevant departments before and that's why I got a 5 year multiple entry visa, but even a low level officer needs to harass people. I had travelled in many countries, never seen such behaviour like from Indian babus. Frustrated buddas cannot see young people enjoying their life. It's everywhere. Modi asked people to visit India. Do they have any facilities here when they arrive? Are they free from constant harassment on street or cheating by autos and taxis? Babus get irritated if we record because either they are not doing their job or want bribe. And government doesn't encourage people to record by enacting clear laws, because they are scared they'll be exposed. Watch some travellers vlogs to understand the difficulties faced by people. Corruption is everywhere, babus make people's life difficult everywhere. Everything in this country is of third world quality.

If government comes out with a clear law no body can stop anyone from recording in public places, most of these babus will fall in line. In the US, after body cam became mandatory, Police brutality cases have drastically come down

If your aunt is having a panic attack, you forget about flying and HELP HER. What kind of a person even thinks about making a sick person travel long distances? People who are travelling for further treatment do not travel like this. They are always pre-boarded.

Rules are for everyone and it should not be bended for anyone in any situation. Don't give this too much attention. To the person in the video who mentioned that the flight hasn't taken off and yet they are not allowed to board. Dear Sir, it is not a bus on which you can hop onto. Even I have missed my flight but I didn't panic even though I was not earning enough at that moment that I could pay for my another flight ticket but I learnt a lifetime lesson a hard way.

This is totally rubbish, I had medical emergency on chandigarh airport, airport staff and air india staff was so attentive and caring, airport manager immediately made arrangements and dropped me nearby fortis mohali. I'm so grateful of them

For the first time have seen Air India take a stand in order to let passengers reported in time to not be affected due to delayed passengers and stand up for it. Feel they could have tried to accomodate if possible in subsequent flights with a respectable charge. Is Tata management bringing this change? If Yes, what did the Air India leaders before Tata came in do? Aish kiya hoga, aaram kiya hoga. If they are still there in the system, I'm sure they are looking for jobs!

Air India did the right thing. Rules has to be followed strictly. The only bad thing is that same rule doesn't apply for VVIPs like CM, Ministers for whom airliners are delaying flights. One can only show sympathy for that lady.

If my loved ones has medical emergency, my instinct will be to help them or call for help. I will try to calm the patient, but definitely NOT pull out my phone and start recording. 🙄 Also, if you have health issues, then reach the airport 4 hours ahead so that you can get all the formalities done smoothly without having to run to the gate.

Once we reached mumbai airport just 10 minutes before flight departure time. It was due to an emergency and it was the only time we arrived so late at the airport. We were so lucky that the Air India ground staff realized our emergency situation and helped us to board the flight. I can never forget that day.

Delhi airport has one of the strickest checking measures in the name of security plus the amount of crowd in the airport.. my God.. you must gave 3 hours of time before the take-off.. otherwise such panic attacks could happen to you too

Many years ago we flew by Indian Airlines from Ahmedabad for a connecting flight by Air India. The flight counters were closed well before boarding time. Air India gave us the flight next day.

5 mins to gate.. you make a stressful travel more stressful by being late.. for her benefit make travel more organised and systematic so she is comfortable. Travel extra early .. max you have to wait a little.. but so much better than being anxious! Normally people get really anxious!

Many many years back I missed my Indian Airlines early morn flight MUM-CCU. I was going to Kol for my Registry marriage. I reached late because I woke up late (alarm failed), panicked, rushed in auto from Andheri and ran but checkin was closed! I pleaded with Airport Mgr but of course he did not delay the flight. He told me to take evening flight, and put a note on my ticket so that I did not have to pay extra. In above incident I am seeing the party trying to shift blame.

Now a days i see unnecessary blaming airlines for following standard rule.. imaginine what other 200-300 passengers would have done if the flight would have delayed because of this.. it was passengers responsibility to reach there hour before since they have patient with them.. It is not easy task for airline if any emergency happens in air and full flight has to make emergency landing somewhere became a of that.. and whole schedule of flight would collapse because of that.

If you Halt the plane for some late-comer to board. People will say that this is VIP culture or why to wait for one passenger and cause trouble to others. If the plane stops boarding then again blame the airlines. It's unfortunate that the passenger had panic attack...but the airlines is not to be blamed for this.

I have travelled in domestic flight alot, means every week on business work, every airlines announces a lot and give enough time to board but if you too late after gate closing time then no one will help you.. so follow their guidelines don't blem without knowing things on ground

Sorry to be that person, but if your cousin had the final year viva (which I consider is extremely important) why was he flying the same day? For all you know, the flight could have been cancelled. Would you have blamed the airlines then?🙄🙄

1. Indian airlines rank horrible on service 2. Nevertheless thousands of people get denied boarding daily due to being late. This is no exception so why is the media is making a bug fuss out of it? Because there's a video taken by a family member of his "panicking" aunt instead of helping her? Must have been sooooooo important.

Because of few passengers, other passengers must not be delayed, this is a part of the Airlines protocol, so blaming Airlines company is wrong. Passengers are already informed with the timings for the onboarding and must arrive within the scheduled time, if they fail it's none of the Airlines company's fault.

As someone with panic disorder I can say that having a panic attack and having it be recorder and posted no matter what triggered it is my biggest nightmare. Like.... would you record someone who just got hit by a car? Or who is having a stroke? People don't know what will trigger a panic attack. It's bull sh!t to blast someone having one. And no a panic attack doesn't justify blaming anyone else She was late... period. That's on her.

Should be investigated. Just because she is lying on the floor and video has gone viral doesn't mean Airline is at fault. We need to check the rules and then decide

I find no fault with the Airline. Once I couldn't catch an Air India flight as I was late by 3 minutes. My meeting just prolonged, forgot to check the time. Check in closes exactly one hour before departure time. Mine and another passenger's request didn't work. So both of us pooled in, took a cab from Chandigarh and returned home to Gurgaon. My companion was a senior Airforce Officer. We had great time and a great dinner in Ambala. A possible pain converted into a great experience. Such is life.

Whatever the matter is, one cannot deny that some people either do not know the rules or simply ignore the rules...and one should know that if your family member has a medical problem, than inform the airline in advance ( atleast 12 hr before boarding time) and bring necessary medicine and also medical records to show in case of emergency...and the best, a fitness certificate to fly from a recognised doctor ...it might look hard but it is simple ...we should use our common sense atleast....

The health authority in India should allow such patients to display batch for such people with disabilities, epilepsy, etc as priority pass.

I know that at this time aircraft gate is closed and initial checklist is done by pilot.so they will not allow anyone after aircraft gate closed..

I don't think a panic attack results in you falling unconscious, more like a very deep anxiety that just takes a hold over you. Also was she denied because of being late or because the airlines overbooked the tickets?
