The whole "different culture where you're not allowed to grieve openly" is such a lie. I'm Ukrainian and have many friends from other Slavic countries, including Latvia. We grieve losses of loved ones openly. We do not do cartwheels after witnessing a dear person drown. She's a psycho, pure and simple.

@@geeangeles6600 because once charges are filed against someone it’s all but impossible to come out of a trial with a not guilty verdict. The court system is structured until vital defense information can be disallowed. An example is self defense. A judge can rule to disallow information showing the victims past history of stalking, threatening, harassment, etc., which allows the one single then to presented to a jury. That single event, minus the history, convicts innocent people all the time. So the attorney may have known it would be impossible to win or you could be right and he just wanted his hands on the money. There isn’t a lot of justice in the justice system tho.

And the way she described removing his kayak’s plug, sabotaging the paddle, admitting she did nothing to help him while watching him drown, then gleefully celebrating “being free” when he dies sounds more Iike 1st degree murder to me. Her lawyer is sleezy and stupid. Police interviews can be delicate and conducted with sensitivity vs. aggressively demanding with accusations so the suspect will hopefully continue to talk rather than shutting down and lawyering up. All interrogations are not alike. Anyway, she got off easy. And she absolutely should be deported!

You guys are wrong. They had no evidence, except her own confession, which she kept changing. She ultimately said, "I wanted him to die, he died, and I'm okay with it." There's nothing illegal about that, hoping that someone will die. If she had kept her stupid mouth shut, she'd never have been charged with anything. They HAD to let her plead guilty to criminally negligent homicide, with a light sentence. Otherwise, she'd have been convicted of nothing. They simply had no evidence to convict her of murder. It had nothing to do with her race or gender.
