All of these women are beautiful and their reasons are valid. When I listen to these girls it's like listening to my current wife when she explained to me for the first and only time why she didn't want kids. She was right, as always. Now we have a great childfree marriage.

I am LOVING this angle! I had to think ... would I want kids if I were a man ... YES! The mom can take care of them 90% of the time, and I can just play with them and do the bare minimum! I'm 51 and never had kids. I feel like I dodged a bullet every time the subject is brought up.

you are making a lot of assumptions, there are plenty of people with kids who are abandoned or simply wish they were abandoned because their kids turned out so bad they dont want to be around them at all. Had my parents not had me, they would be surrounded by friendships they cultivated their whole lives - they are not lonely by any means. You have such an idyllic hope of what is to come. Life is often not that way at all.

42 years old. No regrets. Never wanted them, never will. As far back as I remember, I had zero interest in motherhood. I have a memory from when I was around 5-6 years old of another kid in the neighborhood playing with a baby doll. I was sitting in a chair across the room wondering what on earth she found so entertaining in playing mother.

It’s true that you have to pick between kids or your partner. My grandmother, who desperately wanted kids and had 4, admitted that she should’ve focused more on her partner, as her children no longer spend time with her. She admits that it’s best to focus on your life partner, as they will ideally be with you into your old age. Not your children. Also, every family I have nannied for has had relationship problems. The woman is stressed and burned out, and the man feels neglected and abandoned. I heard one dad admit that his child was his best friend, as his wife doesn’t even talk to him anymore. I’ve never seen a GOOD relationship with kids. In fact, the oldest couple I saw that were together for over 50 years NEVER had kids. And they were happy cruising the world together

Update: My grandmother is now terminally ill. None of her kids are around except her daughter (by default; they live near each other). But all she can do is handle the paperwork and other legal matters. She can’t physically take care of her, as her needs are too great, and she has to work (obviously). She would be in a nursing home right now, but my grandmother was smart enough to get cancer insurance, which will pay for a private caretaker. Be smart, folks. Kids can’t save you, even if they’re willing.

Ladies......You don't owe anyone an explanation about why you don't want kids or anything you decide for your own life. The day will never come that I GAF what men or society has to say about how I choose to live my life. You all better get some boundaries and a fcking backbone. When people find out I am childfree, they say nothing. They just keep it moving. Guess why.

This is very sad. I have been happily married for 27 years and my kids are 23, 20 & 17. I do appreciate as an immigrant to the US that there is little social support and a big lack of community in the USA. People are so individualistic and even neighborhoods (except for the oldest in some towns and cities) are not built to make life straightforward so people can walk to useful places (stores, libraries, schools, work places etc.), in most parts of the USA you have to drive everywhere. On the other hand I know many wonderful and happy families. We have had our life struggles (cancer being one of them) but we have each other. I am now in my middle age and I can’t imagine as a woman facing my 50s, 60s, 70s + with no family below me, no children or grandchildren. Unfortunately the economy makes it very difficult for young adults to afford the basics of an affordable home to create a stable home for themselves and their children. We are also practicing Catholics so we value marriage highly and practicing Catholic couples support each other emotionally because we want strong families.

I hoenstly don't blame it purley on biologically I think if more girls would be allowed to try themselves out on cars to be self-steered, wood work and stuff like this we wouldn't end up being elerly citziens at the cashiers still having uncertainness like a lil Kid. I observe this so many times these days like females are not raised to self-confidences and even if they think they were it's borderlining arrogant but there is always a moment you see that anyone who appears to be female just seems shaky. And beside the DingDong being a good relver for the urin it seems a bit extreme to me to have the most senstive part of you hanging outside especially by all the limbs these upcoming Gens are.

I do a man's job. I'll lose my job if it's not expected of me to do the hard labor like the rest of the men I work with. I worked 50-60 hours, driving 500 miles a week. Now work cut everyone's hours down to 45 hours a week with compensation. I got transferred so now I drive 400+ miles a week. I'm the only female where I work who climbs ladders. Whatever the guys are doing, I have to do too. I've sliced off my fingertips a few times, and electrocuted a couple of times then even had the skin on my fingers completely removed I also worked in construction and cared for babies at the same time. I would prefer being a man than a woman when it comes to babies. A man's job is way easier than a Mom’s job. At least a man gets breaks at his job and has sick days. Moms don't get breaks or sick days and are on the clock 24/7. What people don't realize between a man's job and a Mom's job is a man's job is more physical than mental. Mom's job is more mental than physical. It's easier to relax physically than it is mentally. That's why we have mental exhaustion though we are not physically tired.

If you are looking for the financial benefits of being a mother, yeah, you won't find much. But that woman is simplistic in her thinking: 1. A LOT of women want to be moms because every month they are reminded of what could've been and what kind of future awaits a childless woman in her old age. No grandkids. No 'moments'. No furthering of YOU. Just meaningless sex, internet surfing, cats, and boxed wine. 🙄 Giving birth is both the most selfish and most giving thing a woman can do - particularly in a committed relationship where the father is involved. All by herself? Yeah. Not much fun - especially if you try to raise a boy without a man in the house. The stats on that situation are not good and it's why traditional marriage worked best. 2. Life made an investment in you. Somehow, you managed, against all odds, to be here. Yes, the world is an imperfect place - and it will NEVER be perfect. But it could be better. The only way it GETS better is to raise a child, not with a sense of spoiled entitlement, but with a generosity of spirit and strong character and have that person function in the world. If you fail to do this, you've failed at life. You've MADE the world a worse place because of the absence of a child that well might have tipped the balance of good and evil. 3. I understand the arguments against - and sure, not every woman can or should have kids. My wife suffered from horrific post-partum depression for years afterwards. HOWEVER, she would not have traded that experience or our son for ANYTHING. Life is pain. Life is full of choices you don't want to make - but if you don't make them, they'll be made FOR YOU, and not always to your liking. Do not let your fear guide your decisions in live. That woman above, suggesting that there's no incentive to be a mom - in spite of the fact that she HAS KIDS -- should tell you something. God help her children! In all things, use the discretion and discernment your brain is capable of, and above all, PRAY for guidance.

There is no personal, financial, emotional, or physical benefit for a woman having a child in today's society. 1. It is meaningless to have the expectation of living through another. Your child is their own person; you are just a guide to help them discover that in the best manner you think appropriate. Giving birth is the riskiest thing a woman can ever do....she is literally risking her own life for another. Yeah, hard pass on that. And say she does live through it, she can find her hormones thrown out of wack, become disabled, etc. Raising a child does not make life or the world while it is globally going through an economic crisis and environmental upheaval better. If anything, it puts more anxiety and strain on the "mother" woman to protect her child during that episode, which later would be spun as emotional abuse. "A helicopter mom, an overprotective mom, an antisocial mom, etc... Women in this society are better off without kids. Despite knowing this, the women who decide to have them deserve all the aid and upliftment from the community because they are either stupid, gluttons for punishment, or blindly optimistic. But they are doing a great service to our country, so thank you for your services and sacrifice. Use common sense, be logical, and think about what you can provide a child versus what YOU want. Do you deserve a child? If you're not even financially stable, that answer is no; if you are not emotionally mature or available, that answer is no; if you are still trying to find yourself, that answer is no.

No furthering of YOU. Just meaningless sex, internet surfing, cats, and boxed wine. " I can have "moments" and "furthering myself" with my nephews and nieces and also I am not completely alone. I have a loving family and tight circle of close friends ( I don't befriend easily) . My companionship is not always pets and alcohol ( I don't drink ). "2. You've MADE the world a worse place because of the absence of a child that well might have tipped the balance of good and evil." I know that life is not perfect but my OWN way to make it better is to find my own happiness and be content with myself. Having children will make this imperfect world more imperfect for THEM. I don't want to bring out unwanted children in this imperfect world. If that makes me spoiled so bet it. "3. I understand the arguments against - and sure, not every woman can or should have kids. My wife suffered from horrific post-partum depression for years afterwards. HOWEVER, she would not have traded that experience or our son for ANYTHING. Life is pain. That woman above, suggesting that there's no incentive to be a mom - in spite of the fact that she HAS KIDS -- should tell you something. God help her children!" I am sorry for what happened to your wife but realized that your wife's experience and pain differs from the experiences of other women. The difference between her and childfree women like me is the desire to be a mother and that is something not you nor anybody else can change. Only me. I respect your thoughts, desires and decisions in life as a person. Please extend that same courtesy to me.

@@StephH0711 All I can tell you is that this IS mostly on women. Men have no say in pretty much anything when it comes to women, and that's fine - but it's not necessarily a 'win'. Remember, while you're 'finding yourself' or waiting for the world to somehow get become a more perfect place with less children growing up that could possibly DO THAT, the clock IS ticking, and judging from the inane videos I've seen here and elsewhere, I'm not sure young women understand this. They WILL, of course, eventually, but if life is just about 'getting your bag', I suppose the makers of pet food and boxed wine are going to be QUITE happy indeed!... 🤷‍♂

@@Chordonblue life is about finding a way to enjoy it...and for many women, that doesn't involve children. If a woman changes her mind, she can always adopt. There are, unfortunately, many unfit people having kids, so there will always be a need that way. @@somabalestra1131 ". I respect your thoughts, desires and decisions in life as a person. Please extend that same courtesy to me." I never said otherwise. You're going to do what you want, regardless of what *I* think anyway, so I'm not sure what you mean here. HOWEVER, neither of us get to go through life without making hard choices and then having to live with the consequences. The difference is, women do have to grow up faster b/c these kinds of choices are only available to younger women. Sure, there's adoption or IVF - if you can afford it, if it works, etc. The timetables for women and men are different, as are our priorities in life - this is nature's design, not some maniacal male-dominated patriarchy at work. It is what it is. The only thing I would say is that ALL women need to be educated as to the pros and cons of having children. We are here b/c someone, somewhere down the line had you and I. My opinion stands. It's MY opinion - or as they say it these days, 'My truth'. Your mileage WILL vary.

Then the powers that be can foot the bill for caring for an unwanted child. As if the powers that be benefit us in any way? Why should we care about them or obey them if there is nothing in it for us? Why do we follow leaders? Oh, that's right, because they're supposed to represent and uphold our interests. It looks like our society hardly has anyone that can be called a true leader. Leaders put the welfare of their people first - they prioritize ALL of their constituents. And besides, if the powers that be truly want us to make decisions that are not to our benefit, we can hold those outcomes for ransom so that they have to sacrifice something before we would even begin to consider sacrificing on our part. Honestly, if they want kids, they can have and raise them all by themselves.
