At the age of like 9-10 I learned that having kids was not mandatory and some people could choose to have none. I remember just feeling this immense relief and happiness at that realization... and I never looked back. Now 35 and feel blessed that I don't have kids. I descend directly from a line of men and women who had no business having children and who all turned out terrible abusive parents. Not every bloodline needs to be kept alive...

Do you really want a man who wants kids just for legacy reasons? Does that sound like a person who will help you raise his kids? To me, it sounds like someone who will spread his seed anywhere and everywhere he can.

I think more people should be asking themselves why they are having children and if their reasons are either, "to continue MY legacy", "have someone to care for ME in my old age" or "so I won't be lonely" then you shouldn't be having children.

I like to just sit and chill and not do a damn thing when I'm done with work. Sometimes I cook, sometimes I don't, with a child you HAVE to do all those things. The sleeping part is so VERY important to me. If I don't get adequate sleep I'm a bitch and I'd hate to be waken up to a screaming child. Plus, I need my alone time even away from my husband

Too expensive and i want freedom. Im 28, earn $115k+, no debt, single. Inflation is so bad my rent for a 1 bed is 2.2k. I cant even afford a home, which is needed for a kid. Then all the associated costs. My partner would have to work so we could afford to live, plus add in a nanny. Only way i and others should even consider having kids, is if the economy goes back to precovid and if they financially can afford it.

As a mom of 2 who wanted to be a mom since I was a little girl, I have no ill feelings towards people who don't want kids. I totally get it it's not easy and not for everyone. I think both sides need to be nice and understanding towards other people. I think it's great that people know they don't want to have kids because having a kid just cuz everyone says you should is horrible that's how we get all these messed up people/ messed up situations kids and adults are put into.

I believe more women would want to have children, if men were raised to be emotionally available, considerate and useful as a husband and father. I've seen too many times how a guy twiches up on their partber the moment they fall pregrant and treat them like shit. I read so many Reddit stories of how husbands abandoned their wives in the birthing room or did inconsiderate things because they, the man, was uncomfortable! Its a bad investment/business plan logically. 80% of men are useless in relationships, hence why there is now a loneliness epidemic in men. I'm 27 years old, and i think it was around middle school when i realized i didnt want kids AT ALL!. There was this "flour baby" Project where you had to tape up a sack of flour and PRETEND it was a baby, and when i say i hated it, i HATED it with every fiber of my being, especially when there was an electronic baby that just wouldn't stop screaming. That would be my living hell. I breathed a huge sigh of relief when the project was over, because that bag of flour was ripped and was made into cookies :-). Every now and then, i'll see my uncles kids and that's enough for me, but the idea of having my own kids is a big NOPE from me.

All that money, energy, self sacrifice and time WAS NOT WORTH IT. Then they grow up and show up at your door with grandkids for you to either take care of or watch. I don't want children either, I went through kind of a lot of pain in my family. I have an entire family, but it was My mom, my older sister, and my other brother. We went some pain, but my sister has her own space, married, and has a child, and I'm cool with it. When I get to find my own space, I am NOT going to have kids, I'm not even gonna get myself PREGNANT. Kids CAN'T stay looking fuckin' CUTE forever.!

I regularly have nightmares about being pregnant and giving birth because even if everything goes super smooth, which it won't, it's a hell of a pain. Also I don't want to waste my precious free time having to listen to Bob the builder or watching Peppa pig or cleaning up the forever sticky mess a toddler is. I want to spend my money and my time on me and am strongly considering getting my tubes tied. I am alredy struggling with so many things that pregnancy can bring Me & Myself & I -weight gain not the worst but I manage that by myself - feet that hurt, ask my knees a lil more movement than for a moment and they complain - emoitonalitiy - I'm already a cry-baby what would I be then "a human lake?" - Brain fog, preganny brain, again I manage to loose phones in shoes, glasses in the refrigator without a human growing in me too - Depression pre-during-part---statistically pretty sure that's what my mother had undiagnsoed with me and the effects might be particially while I still can#t take care of me as an adult adult and I do therapy if I have the chance and other issues in the end - not thinking I'm rid of them between 16-18-23 c bc I see with me that is just not the REALITIY! Don't believe the catastrophic outcomes opinions. The only times (2) in my life I felt totally content is when I was pregnant. Not sure if it was the hormones or I knew I was doing a good thing. Pregnancy is not hell. Spending a ton of money on a kid is a choice for the most part. I fully support those who don't want kids, but please don't act like the people your complainting about and push no kids.
