Hailey's Hamsters nobody's skin is perfect. she is probably just giving some examples of what might not have shown up. it shouldn't be considered rude to say that someone might have a little acne or bags. im only ten (obviously i dont wear make up) and for some reason i have pretty big bags under my eyes. my friends have pointed it out and i didnt consider it rude. sorry if i misunderstood, by the way

@AnonymousHuman * and they still don't have it after. Doing something to appeal to others and only feeling comfortable when others approve of you is the opposite of confident. Saf's reason is the only reason anybody should be doing anything to themselves. Because you just like it and want to. Sadly, there's still a lot of pressure to conform to certain standards and a lot of women do it to avoid judgment and it's fine, not everyone feels like battling with something every day, but it's always nice to see the encouragement to step out of this comfort zone and to learn to not care about what others think and be your own boss.

@@Alena-cz7hj we do feel tons of pressure do makeup and so does saf. we are marketed to and sold things constantly, nobody is exempt from this pressure. more men wear makeup now than in the past but the vast majority don't, why do you think that is? lack of cultural pressure. stay woke.

Yeah, my eyelashes and brows are colorless/invisible, so I look like an alien without at least a little makeup. These ladies all look great.

Riley Lynn same I have severe dark circles under my eyes and whenever I go out without them people actually tell me i look sick and awful, I have to wear it to feel comfortable with my bags but other than that makeup is tedious but fun :)

@@samantha8178 I agree with you, I also feel that some don't realize it but when you wash off all the makeup that's been enhancing your looks so much and then look in the mirror, you'll start wishing you kept the looks as you keep using makeup overtime, not only will it ruin what your natural skin looks like, it also can bring insecurities you never had until you started using it a lot of girls won't admit that make up does in fact take a toll on their self confidence, though I guess some people genuinely do makeup as a form of art to express their creativity so we'll never know.

Walid paybaCk well I find it fun and therapeutic to put on makeup. It’s fun to use different palates and colors when doing you’re eyes and lips. It’s the same reason why you get eager to wear a new outfit. It’s fun and exciting to do something new that makes you feel cute.

Yeah i agree, i dont really wear makeuP that often because i am lazy and every minute more of sleep is precious buuuut once i get home or whenever i am bored i play with it, experiment. I literally have never worn as much makeul as i do in quarantine, BECAUSE I AM BOREDDDD😂

Same here!! My skin used to be really good, so it was the easiest thing to not wear make up, but recently I'm breaking out like crazy and there's NO way I'm not using concealer.

I don't wear makeup because: I don't like how it feels on my face, my skin is way better/healthier without it, its just a hassle to put on and take off, and I just don't really feel like me. On rare occasions it is nice to wear mascara though

I’m glad that they included Safiya’s positive outlook on make up and not just the more negative opinions. That’s how I feel about make up, I just enjoy it. Admittedly I don’t like showing my spots, but it’s cos I’ve always been lucky to have clear skin so when I do get a spot, it’s really noticeable. I went to acting school for my degree where we were not allowed to wear make up in order to be our most authentic selves and be able to ‘bare our souls’ more. Sounds flowery and pretentious but it helped me get over my teenage addiction to eyeliner and made me feel super comfortable being bare-faced.

As bizarre as it is, i feel more insecure WITH makeup. And then i spend the entire day fussing over "does it still look ok" "what do others think" "does this go with what im wearing, or me". Idk, it looks nice but to much hassle.

Yeeees, when I do more make up than I normally do (for fancy events or date night or whatever) I'm constantly wondering if my eyeliner ran or if I have liptstick in my teeth or if my foundation looks weird, throughout the date/night. I much prefer just using a minimal look with a tinted CC cream and a waterproof mascara and out the door.

Something I realized recently is that I get more comfortable and confident doing things and going out and meeting people without makeup. Before when I used to wear makeup I couldn't help thinking that I was hiding part of myself that I was insecure about and for that I was wearing a mask but just putting it out there that this is me, this is who I am, it actually gave me so much confidence and self-love. Now I just don't wear any makeup at all including the days i have really bad skin. And just the fact that I don't have to remove anything after the day(i do wash my face) love it so much.

I've never looked at a lady and thought the condition of her skin was what made her attractive or not and I know the vast majority of you haven't either. Therefore no one thinks it about you. I used to have really bad cystic acne and I wish that I could agree that no one makes comments about it, but unfortunately, I've had people literally look at my face and say "ew, what's wrong with your face" when they saw me when I was younger. It's not so bad now, I still get blemishes all over my face but they aren't as big/scabby, I have been out and seen people without make up before and they usually ask me if I'm sick or something because I look ill without makeup on now. I'm trying to just wear bb/ cc cream to give my skin a break, but you can still see the spots and lots of family members, etc. will always say 'oh, your spots are back again aren't they' (they never left, I just got better at putting make up on) :/

My fiancé (whom is obviously straight considering he's engaged to me) asks me to put concealer, sometimes foundation, and even gel in his brows weekly. He's even started having me wax his brows for him (I'm an Esthetician so he doesn't worry that I'll mess them up). I think it's stupid that men feel like they can't wear makeup for fear of being accused of being gay. Men shouldn't have to endure dark circle or acne either if they don't want to. Plus, makeup doesn't have a gender in my book❤️ Also, this is 2016, being called gay shouldn't be an insult anymore.

I totally feel Jen on this one. Until recently, nobody besides my parents and my significant other have seen me without make-up for YEARS just cause I've always had absolutely terrible skin. It's not perfect yet, but getting better, yet I still feel REALLY self-conscious whenever I go outside without make-up, just because I've gotten so used to covering my skin. Not doing it makes me feel super vulnerable. So to all of you lovely people struggling with the same issue: I know it takes time, but I'm sure it'll get better and someday we won't be scared to just show everyone our bare faces 💙

I'm not a fan of Buzzfeed but I do really like Ladylike. This video made me feel so good about myself and how far I've come with my selfconfidence. I used to not be able to go outside without applying makeup and now I could probably attend to a prom or gala barefaced and not care less. It's very empowering to break free from the ¨need¨ to wear makeup and simply view it as a fun thing, like a hobby or interest kindof. And I love that these girls, who normally wear makeup daily, tried a week without it to see how they feel

I have absolutely horrible skin, but I have never, ever worn makeup (other than for dances and 'special' events). I choose to fix the acne instead of cover it up, and with this mindset, I've worked harder to clear it up and consequently, it has, at least a little.

(first of all- all of these women look so beautiful with and without makeup) im 14 and about to enter highschool. i went to a private middle school and we weren't aloud to wear makeup, so i feel like ive come to love my appearance without altering it, and if i do start wearing makeup, i think ill do it because its fun, not because i feel like i need to. i love the fact that women are deciding for themselves that they dont need to wear makeup and i hope that every girl growing up doesnt feel like makeup is something they have to wear💜

I tend to try to do a few days or a week of not wearing makeup to give my skin a chance to breathe. I love makeup, and I love doing cool colour combos, but honestly I find clean skin the best and showcasing that and letting your skin breathe is the best

I wear & treat makeup as another accessory to my outfit/look.If that makes sense? If I wear a glam look my makeup is going to be glam,If I wear a casual look my makeup will be light. If I'm in comfy clothes I'll wear no makeup. Personally for me my makeup does not define my beauty or give me my beauty but simply brings together my overall outfit the day.

And it's not like I'm putting on earring because I don't like my ear without it, so why would putting on makeup mean I don't like my face? I'm actually more self-conscious IN makeup. I'm constantly worried if I'm getting oily, or if it's smudging, or oxidising, or getting crusty around my nose. I'd rather go bare faced than be worried all day. I will, however, wear a little liner.

I believe it’s my fault I feel so self conscious about it. I go people used to see me with a full face of makeup up every time...

@Abby thats true. I learned that the "hard" way. ;) I have bad acne (with 23 still) and i never wore make up ever. Like, ever. I feel really insecure about it all the time, but when i talk about that with someone they just shrug and are like "really, i dont care.". I guess people stress out for nothing. just dont wear makeup. Those who bother dont care and those who care wont bother. ;)

I do have care products (for example nail oil to keep the skin smooth) and I go to the manicure and hair dresser regulary, but I don't see any reason, why I should wear make-up when I don't even like it. Me! I sometimes put some eyeliner on, but that's it. No foundation, no lipstick, no mascara... And a lot of times not even the eyeliner, and I don't feel selfconcious or anything. I think that in my profile I'm wearing the eyeliner and a lip gloss, and that was a day that it took some time to get me ready, I had my hair curly because of the braids that I wore the night before and I wanted to add something to the look, but, still, no foundation...

I hardly ever wear makeup, I wore it for the first time for Christmas this year and felt...meh about it. It was fun to do it, but I was more self conscious with it in vs off. In high school I never wore makeup and I'm happy I made that choice. As an adult a friend told me "I wish we were as confident as you because doing makeup to go out tonight is time consuming." And I was taken aback. I never had thought of it like that.

Makeup is okay, but as soon as you feel you NEED makeup to be beautiful, that's when its not okay. I always try to go all natural every once in a while so that I remember how important it is to feel beautiful and confident with AND WITHOUT makeup. To remind myself that makeup shouldn't be something you feel you NEED to put on every day to feel beautiful. I encourage you to do the same. Go all natural every so often. Challenge yourself to feel beautiful and confident with AND without makeup.

nah my face makes me look like someone's grandma and im not exaggerating even my mum says i look like her mum not her daughetr lmaooo thank god for make up to cover my discoloration, panda eys and give me actual eyebrows as well as some shimmer and pink so i look cute...even them im average

That's a no no for a guy to say the tired thing lol but it's true. It's just because it makes your face less colorful I don't see how it's an insult. This is coming from a guy who has a personal taste for girls without makeup.

I used to where makeup a lot (I am now in 8th grade) and starting mid 7th grade I stopped. (Now I only wear mascara) and I feel great. First week or so I was super self conscious, but now I love being able to itch my face and stuff without having the fear I would mess up my makeup

Ava B I think it's probably because they're older and their acne and messed up skin has mostly healed as a result of their age. They looked a bit different, but you're right that it's not as extreme as with someone with bad acne or skin discolouration.
