Enjoy this deepest sleep story ever...! This Wonder in the forest bedtime story for grown ups is a long sleep story for grown ups created with ideas from viewers about a man in a cabin in the woods. There is a cat in front of the fireplace, drifting asleep. The man is baking a cake. While the cake is in the oven, he sits in a chair reading a book. After a short while, before the cake has finished cooking, there is a powercut. He assumes that perhaps the snow outside has bought down a powerline. He turns on some battery-powered candles. As he looks out of the window into the night, he watches tiny dancing lights in the distance and suspects they are fireflies. The man checks that the cake is done, before settling back down in the chair, stroking the cat, as the cat drifts asleep. The man drifts into a reverie himself while focusing on his ongoing experience (I guide the listener through a variation of the Betty Erickson 3-things hypnotic induction (a self-hypnosis induction), a similar version appears in CBT often referred to as the 5-4-3-2-1 grounding technique where they have just dropped the words 'hypnotic induction' and just call it a technique). Drifting into the reverie, he finds himself in his cabin on a warm summers day. He heads outside and sees and hears the wildlife as he heads to the forest. In the forest, he notices a red thread tied to a tree which weaves between trees. He follows the thread. He follows that thread down into a cave where he finds a friendly bear wearing a red woolen jumper. A young bear appears and talks with the man, explaining that they tied the thread of the Dad's jumper to a tree and see if his Dad would notice as his jumper unraveled. The man heads out for a walk with the bears. They head to a river and the man has to catch fish for dinner. After catching the fish, they all sit around a campfire, eating and drifting into philosophical discussion before heading back to the cabin. Back at the cabin, he settles down reading a book which gets larger in his hands. He notices he is actually getting smaller. He climbs down from the chair, finds a small door in the wall, heads through the door, down steps and out of another door leading outside. He heads outside into the night. He pushes through the grass which towers over him. He notices orbs of light rising out of the water of the lake he rows out onto. The tide guides to a point on the bank. He walks up onto the bank where he encounters a badger. The badger explains about the orbs and how they are the birth or transformation of fairies from tiny underwater creatures, to fairies. The badger explains that the fairies are always there to help and explains that this reverie is more than just a reverie. The man heads closer back to the cabin on the back of a frog, as he does, so he notices the weather changing to snow again. As he nears the cabin he sees three mice throwing snowballs at the cabin. He heads into the cabin and heads towards himself in the seat. As he does, he gets larger and larger until he is his normal size. Once back at himself, he sits down into himself in the chair. He opens his eyes and notices it is still dark outside. He places the cat in front of the fire and heads to the cabin window. He can hear a low rumble of distant thunder. The man then heads to bed and while falling asleep, he thinks back over his reverie before drifting deeper into an inner experience of walking across a dreamland with a distant volcano, a raven in a tree, watching over him to make sure he is well and then a green fairy flying down to him and telling him to believe in magic. As he focuses on believing in magic a bear hands him a leather jacket and he heads off on a motorcycle towards that volcano, to go on a journey of adventure and discovery, as he drifts deeper asleep into a dream.

Hi Dan, thank you for this wonderful sleep I just had when listening to this! The red thread in the woods - that went from Blair witch project to absolute hilarity very quickly...! When I heard what was behind the thread and the jumper situation, I burst out laughing while already being half asleep. Also, a cabin in the woods with TV and an oven that switches itself off....? My kind of cabin - surrounded by luxury. Couldn't stop thinking about what else was in that kitchen...! Let me guess the ending of the story which I didn't hear because I was asleep - the man wakes up and finds that the cat has eaten all the cake...?? 😂🐱🌛

I'm just drifting off when I hear "kneading and rolling out the flour" and I jolt awake when you say you are making a cake, which, of course, _never_ requires kneading or rolling. Then I reprimand myself for being too linear and stubborn about coherence and by the time the lights go off I'm back to being relaxed. Someday maybe I'll hear the whole story. Thanks, Dan. The stories, at least the long ones, have changed since Graham's passing. I'm sure you are aware of it. In addition to giving so much of yourself to us, please take care, get plenty of rest and sunshine, when possible.

The character could have been making a sponge and pastry cake, I know you can get various cakes which have pastry on the base and sides, jam or fruit filling with sponge on top. So they could have been rolling out the pastry part and cooking these separately to combine when putting the cake together and just focusing on testing when the sponge is cooked because they could tell by touch when the pastry part was cooked. I don't think the meditations have changed in any way since Graham died? With over 220 sleep meditations I've currently created there is nothing special or different about the few I've created since Graham died to before he died. I create all my meditations with the ideas given by viewers, Hypnotic Memories was created with viewers ideas, was created to help with anxiety, stress and worry, just like all of my other meditations, but also to help with grief and was a tribute meditation to Graham, but other than that, they are no different in style etc to normal. I've only released 3 of the sleep meditations recorded since Graham died, Hypnotic Memories, The Powercut Reverie and The Deep Ascent of Wisdom, all others were recorded during the livestreams in September or earlier of last year before I stopped posting sleep meditations on this channel while KZfaq addressed the midroll ads issue. I am always editing and uploading video recorded live almost a month earlier, but with not posting between the end of September and 1st December when I started posting again there had been a long gap in when the meditations were recorded and when they were posted on my channel. The last 3 have been back to normal, with them posted about 3 weeks after their creation. I'm curious what you feel is different about them and which meditations you were thinking of as being different?

@@DanJonesHypnosis Powercut, Deep Ascent and Hypnotic Memories struck me as containing more words, in the first parts especially, delivered in a more rapid manner than, say The Fortune Teller or Mythical Journey, but your reply prompted me to think on, recognize and accept that Graham's death and your grief rang a bell in my heart I thought had rusted over and gone silent. Many years ago I experienced the sudden loss of my dearest, longest-then, friend under similar circumstances. I was so young, so ill-prepared for the tidal wave of emotions and the terrible shame and stigma with which her action was treated, I stuffed it all way, way down. Small elements of the knot would eventually get pulled clear with therapy and the experiences of continuing observations of life. Other deaths presented themselves for study. The wheel turns and spring comes again, no matter what, so I was under the _impression_ that I had integrated Linda's suicide, and near constant wish to talk to her about "stuff" into my being. I was wrong. I am working now on a home-made ritual to honor and remember and maybe release my grief a little more. I might even bake a cake. Thank you, Dan.

Sorry for your past loss. I hadn't noticed any difference in the amount of words used, but would have to write out the meditations to find out. To me they have felt no different in how I've done any others. The one difference with what I've edited more recently is that I've not been removing so much of the silences. The first few months of edited tracks for 2020 I cut all silences down to a couple of seconds, which in my opinion ruined the tracks, but it was what people were saying they wanted in the comments, complaining that having pauses longer than a couple of seconds was annoying. In over 20 years as a therapist and therapy trainer I had never had complaints like this in face-to-face sessions or training courses and most frequently had the opposite, had people telling me the thing they found most powerful about my therapy was the pauses and my willingness to be silent and just be present giving time for someone to have their experience, and almost never had comments like this on my videos until 2018 when people seemed to misunderstand what I was doing and seemed to think that I was just telling stories without realising these are meditations, but once I stopped posting sleep meditations and views of my old tracks started reducing this complaint disappeared, until I turned my channel into a sleep meditation channel at the end of 2019, when all of a sudden I started getting complaints again about the pauses so I thought as I had committed to making my channel a meditation channel and no longer a mental health and autism channel as it had been since 2007 that I would do what my viewers want even if it ruins my work, because it isn't about me, so I did this, even though I felt that it made my meditations sound rushed, it gave no time for listeners to engage with the process and therapy etc., then a few months into 2020 I decided that I couldn't do it, I wanted to do therapy as I do therapy and have the therapy heard correctly and if people don't like my approach they can find someone who does a therapeutic approach they do like. So, I would say that the videos I posted over the last month or so of 2019 and first few months of 2020, plus remastered meditations I shared, would seem more wordy and faster paced, even though what was recorded and what you hear on the live sleep meditation creation session videos is as it was recorded and so more relaxed with more spaces between the words... I'm about to edit the sleep meditation for Tuesday, I'll have to listen and see if it seems I am being more wordy in it. I am curious now, whether I have been or not, non-consciously...

Does hypnosis work for OCD symptoms? Please answer!
@DanJonesHypnosis
@DanJonesHypnosis 3 жыл бұрын
Hypnosis can be used as part of treatment for OCD. Hypnosis itself obviously isn't therapy, it is just the process of focusing attention and increasing responsiveness, but when used with therapeutic approaches it can help to enhance effectiveness of the therapy. There are things you can do, from removing underlying trauma which may be driving the OCD, to removing anxiety around not carrying out OCD behaviours etc.

I have midroll and post roll ads turned off. What can happen is that if you have autoplay set then what ever video started next might have an ad at the beginning of that video. You shouldn't get an ad at the end or in the middle of any of my videos. I've just double checked and the ads are off, so you should get the full 75 minute meditation without ads during or after it.
