This! This is proof of how good Jack Will’s character was written! He and Via are two of my most favorite characters in the story. They are very human and realistic. They tend to do things they don’t mean to because they, too, want to fit in and be accepted. They are not just the goodie two shoes types of characters to the point that it’s cheesy and unbelievable. They make mistakes and they redeem themselves. Jack Will and Via, aside from Auggie of course, bring so much color to this story.

They slant downward at an extreme angle, almost like diagonal slits that someone cut into his face, and the left one is noticeably lower than the right one. They bulge outward because his eye cavities are too shallow to accommodate them. The top eyelids are always halfway closed, like he’s on the verge of sleeping. The lower eyelids sag so much they almost look like a piece of invisible string is pulling them downward: you can see the red part on the inside, like they’re almost inside out. He doesn’t have eyebrows or eyelashes. His nose is disproportionately big for his face, and kind of fleshy. His head is pinched in on the sides where the ears should be, like someone used giant pliers and crushed the middle part of his face. He doesn’t have cheekbones. One thing: kids can be mean, and say things wayyyy out of pocket without realizing how much it can effect someone. And sometimes looking different can make people act differently towards you. This sense made me so sad because Auggie deserves to be treated just like everyone else. It’s just that no one can control how people act besides themselves, and sometimes that means that people will just have to learn on there own terms that they were wrong. Luckily jack ment no harm and wasn’t trying to be cruel at all (not standing up for what he said) but he was a very true friend to Auggie and I’m glad they still stayed friends

I’ve been in jacks position before. I had a very childish friend who I was embarrassed of being friends with.
