I would like to see a scene where Batman or someone else who can't fly asks her why she has an invisible plane as they're getting in and she responds by saying either a. "Oh, so you'd like me to carry you then?" or b. "It is an invisible plane. Why would I NOT have one?"

That was fun. Cheap as hell and confusingly written, but still fun. Wonder Woman is such a unique, one-of-a-kind character that even during a period of open sexism, she can still come off as a competent hero we can identify with.

Proof, not that any is needed, that Ricardo Montalban is one of the coolest human beings that ever lived and that he can make anything worth watching. I can't even watch one of his old Chrysler ads without ending up in a dreamy, semi-hypnotized state and saying to myself: "Yes, a Cordoba. Buying a Cordoba would solve all my problems and make everything right with the universe.."

Making Wonder Woman a regular human with kung-fu abilities is actually entirely accurate to the Wonder Woman Comics at the time. That was her status quo for about five years from 1968 to 1973. It's probably not a coincidence that she was changed back to being a super powerful Amazonian not long after this movie came out. Also, the movie reviews itself: "Painful... a little."

Does anyone else really love those old goofy 70s live action superhero shows and movies? I mean at least they usually got the costumes right unlike the early 00s superhero movies.
@Gasoline858 жыл бұрын
+Zane Seibert What I dislike about the costumes in current movies and the past 16 years is they manage to make even the real costumes look like CGI. (I know, I know... They probably do it so actual CG scenes blend in better, but it still looks awful).
@Kaefer19738 жыл бұрын

The martial arts focus was actually a thing in the comics in the 70s. She wore a Gi instead of her normal suit and she fought the wage gap instead of costumed villains. Also, some issues were written by Science Fiction legend Samuel R. Delany. Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser also appear in one issue. At the time, in the comics, WW was a martial arts using government agent/super spy As far as I am aware, they focused mainly on that for a while, not her normal traits. She also ran a trendy boutique featuring "Mod" designs! There's an issue of Super man's Girlfriend, Lois Lane, from the time, where he visits WWs shop and she gives him a groovy new Mod look, complete with Beatles style wig!
