Embark on a comprehensive journey with me as I install the Timberwolf 2200 Freestanding Wood Burning Stove from top to bottom. In this tutorial, I guide you through each step of the process, demonstrating the installation of the ceiling support box, chimney pipe, and roof flashing. Drawing upon over 20 years of experience in installing fireplaces and wood-burning stoves, I effortlessly break down the process.
Feel free to leverage my expertise by asking any questions you may have during the installation process. It's important to note that local building codes can vary, and while I provide valuable insights based on my experience in Utah, make sure to adhere to your specific local codes for a safe and compliant installation. Let's make this project a success together!

Awesome video & great info. We just bought a Manufactured home & are going to have to install a wood stove before winter hits, as the city we moved to has the HIGHEST electrical rates in ALL of WASHINGTON STATE! So...NO furnace for us! Your video has everything we need to know & your 20+ yrs of experience is just what we needed to feel confident that this will be our "GO TO" video for our install. THANK YOU so very much for sharing this with all of us & it is great to know...that if we need anything, any part...that you offer it in your store & can ship it to us :)

thanks for your video, you did a good job of explaining. Im an electrical contractor and noticed one itsy bitsy little thing, i only mention it because you are a guy that likes to do things right, plus so many people watch this and they can learn that when you staple a wire down that it should be flat against the wood. you had it on the wires edge which can cause trouble, or damage. so, flatten the romex against the wood. thanks

Thanks for the video. I do have one question. How is it that you are able to get 1 inch clearance off your insulated pipe? Most of what I see is a minimum of 2 inch clearnance from combustibles. Is it because codes have changed since 2013 or am i missing something? Thanks again

The one thing thats hard to tell in the video, at 7:40 , that doesn't look 18 inches away from the walls you have up. 'Maybe' a foot it looks. Oh don't worry, with that setup, you ain't starting any house fires or anything awful. Just if you have to abide by any codes or anything, they might get onto ya if you're using that single wall pipe. All the 2 yr olds with bashing comments are essentially saying the pipe connecting to the chimney box, is too close to the wall. But in reality, you can't really see if its 18" away or not in the video. Honestly, if you was worried, I'd just put a metal heatshield where its that close, and you'll be fine. I like the install myself. Perhaps a shield to protect your drywall, and you're fine.

I realize this his then internet and everyone’s an “expert”..having said that without repeating what others have noticed…when installing the flashing in the roof never put a solid bead of sealant on the bottom side. It won’t allow any trapped water to flow out from under the chimney flashing.

Hi I got a question, I bought the imperial wall heat shield the backing was cracked so I added another 1/2 inch durock board to it but then realized I needed to drill a hole for my air vent My question is 1 how close can my 2020 epa mobile home certified stove get to the heat shield and 2 will me going thru heat shield be ok? I do have that other 1/2 inch attached and also have the double telescoping pipes along with mobile home install kit. Doesn’t seem to be any professional showing how to install with the mobile home install kit that I bought from northern tool nor anyone showing how to do the air intake if you have a heat shield so any help or advice will be appreciated as doing this by myself

How did you pinpoint the center point in the roof from inside the attic? The center point to cut your hole, that is
@mrEnergy511
@mrEnergy511 2 жыл бұрын
There are a lot of ways to find the center point of the under side of your roof once you cut the hole in the ceiling for your Chimney support box. A laser level is expensive but very accurate. Using a string with a heavy weight on the bottom of the string, this is called a plumb-bob. Hold the string to the under side of the roof and let the string hang down to the center of the ceiling hole and measure for center in the ceiling. this will take two people. You could also use a long level vertically making sure to go both ways to find the center square... Hope this helps

No certified code inspector would ever sign off on this install unless he is desperate for some crack because of the stove to wall clearance, no thermal barrier between the back of the stove and the drywall, the stove gets hotter and then the drywall then your calling your insurance company from the hotel your staying at after the fire.

Single-wall pipe cannot be installed that close to unprotected walls or ceilings, under NFPA 211 and equivalent fire codes, not to mention the TempGuard installation manual. He said it was 24 inches to center of the 6-inch pipe, meaning the "elbow" offset could be no more than 4 inches, without bringing it too close to the combustible walls. In other words, you cannot safely install the edge of the ceiling box less than 15 inches from the nearest wall, if you're using single-wall connector pipe. If I were inspecting this, I would red-tag it, making it completely illegal to put a fire in that stove until the chimney connector pipe is replaced with double-wall pipe or properly ventilated wall and ceiling protectors are installed (i.e., 9 inches beyond the edge of the box and down both walls at least to the point where the pipe is 18 inches away.

There might have been some code violations in this video. But, the comments are filled with misinformation too. If you are going to attempt a DIY wood stove installation make sure to review the building and fire code, and folllow the manufacturer's UL listed instructions. Also, have functioning smoke/carbon monoxcide detectors, fire extinguisher, and a minimum of an annual chimney sweep and pipe inspection. These installs and maintainence have no acceptable margin for error.

What company makes the chimney flashing boot?
@mrEnergy511
@mrEnergy511 3 жыл бұрын
If you are looking for a chimney flashing or fireplace pipe flashing, you need to know the outer diameter of your pipe. Is it gas venting or wood chimney pipe? The brand is helpful but not usually required for a flashing. Roof flashing are pretty universal and work with most brands. You will need to know the pitch of your roof as well. Is it a 0/12 to 6/12 pitch or 7/12 to 12/12 pitch. If you don't know, can you easily walk on your roof. If not, it is usually the steeper pitch. There are several companies that will sell the flashings. You can go to a local fireplace retailer. Sometimes your local hardware store will carry them. You can also usually purchase them online or at roof supply store. Our local dealer, www.maplemtnfireplace.com sells them and I sure they would be willing to ship to you.

Exactly! Good call Jon! There is nothing stopping that insulation or other attic debris we can see from coming into contact with the chimney pipe above the ceiling support box. Sorry to be commenting so long after this was posted, but I'm currently trying to install a wood burning stove on my own and need how-to videos and advise that meets or exceeds code. Yikes!
