Wood Turning End Grain Live Edge Pear Bowl

Here I am turning a piece of Pear into an end grain bowl. It has a very irregular shaped natural edge rim.
Most fruit wood has very nice colors and this is no exception.
It is finished with sanding sealer and shellac
I also used abrasive paste and polishing paste over the shellac.

That's a really nice vessel, Gary. Not only is the wood pretty but the end grain turning gave it some unusual pattern. The bark pattern just adds to it too.

Lotsa color in that pear, Gary. Absolutely love the bark and your treatment of it. Great design, too! But, why no excitement? Where are all the cracks and rock hard knots? Concerning the hollowing tool you made, is it straight all the way to the end or does the cutter end have a small left angle to it. I think it’s straight but couldn’t be sure.
