@@sneed670 Woodie without transforming is already faster than Maxwell, in the video he wasted time digging the tree with the shovel, with so many trees for me this is a waste of time, it is better to wait to grow again, I just cut the trees and collect , easily beats Maxwell

The same principle applies even after the Woodie rework though. Woodie / the Werebeaver are both faster at felling the trees, but slower at collecting wood overall because they can't chop trees and pick up logs simultaneously, as Maxwell can.

Swanky Psammead The problem I have is this doesn’t factor in treeguards. While Maxwell will get some and it’s a pain to dispatch multiple during harvesting, Werebever can completely ignore the treeguards. I get people want treeguards, but I get such an over abundance of living logs that treeguards are more of a hassle then a benefit. Werebever also gets a boost from honey spice, and the buff is just as long as the meter takes to run out of a non full moon period of time. The log picking part is a hassle, but it’s not too inconvenient compared to treeguard combat, at least in my experience. I honestly prefer Werebever simply because of the treeguard perk. Also, I love the hoedown theme : P

I wonder if the results would be the same. New beaver removes stumps in 1 hit and 1 transformation would last the whole forest. Would need to time the transformation back to woodie though or waste time waiting it out to pick up. Would be a nice video to watch though

@@rodolfobeguiristain With lazy forager, manual wood collection is no longer necessary, thus the only criteria is how fast the trees are chopped. Wood collection is Maxwell's only advantage, if we give lazy forager to both, Maxwell looses. Same thing happens if they are both given a honey dish - Woodie gets the speed bonus and chops even faster, Maxwell's puppets - do not.

@@s-gamer2705 After re-watching the gullie video about wood collecting I'm still of the opinion that maxwell is the best at wood gathering and that wurt/merms is/are a close second but is more accessible to every character.

As with any "laboratory" tests, this one fails at not taking real environment into an account, ending up giving false result. First of all, the conditions aren't similar - Maxwell uses his active ability, but Woodie isn't in his beaver form for some reason, he can chop much faster and gets the stumps out as well like that. Second - there are no tree guards. Werebeaver can't summon them, Maxwell's puppets - can, and it's a hassle to go through that Woodie can easily ignore if he wishes to. Third, there are no additional items - lazy forager would have removed Maxwell's advantage completely Fourth, there are no other players taken into an account in this multiplayer game. For an example honey crystals would have given Woodie ludicrous wood chopping speed, especially in werebeaver form, but would have done nothing for Maxwell, or just a second pair of hands from Willson or Wes would've allowed to gather logs much faster than with Maxwell. As a result, the only scenario when Maxwell can gather logs faster is at the very beginning of the game (when there are no extra tools or treeguards), and if he's doing it alone. In all other cases Woodie is more efficient. Maxwell is as effective at this as any other character with a bunch of hired pigs. Even less actually, because you can hire more pigs than shadow puppets, and food is easier to gather than shadow fuel.

if you really wanna waste an orange gem just to gather wood, then maxwell would still do better cause he can join in on chopping with his shadow minions and also treeguards spawning is a good thing? maxwell doesn't have to empty his stomach to get wood? he can also farm nm fuel and rocks like crazy...

@@timhobson7781 1. Maxwell takes 15 hits to fell a full grown tree, werebeaver - only 3 and they are faster than regular hits. Werebeaver's animation for digging up a stump is about 3 times faster than Maxwell or his puppets. Maxwell joining his puppets will still be slower by fair margin. 2. If treeguards are needed - Woody in human form summons them better than any other character. In beaver form he can concentrate on wood gathering with no interruptions. That's two points for Woodie and zero for Maxwell. 3. Maxwell can indeed farm nm fuel and rocks really well, I agree completely. The video, however, is about comparing how they gather wood. And fails at being factual and accurate.

TLDR: Maxwell is NEVER going to be better than woodie. Maxwell isn't faster, won't ever be faster the issue is that people count gathering towards the speed but in reality, woodie chops the trees down faster in his normal form, but in his beaver form he steamrolls maxwell, and the thing about that is that all that really matters in the end is getting the trees felled, not the stumping OR the logs being picked up, thats not the thing that you're being rushed at, the issue comes along when the phases change of the tree and shit, so in terms of useless speed, i suppose your idiocy could take over and say "Yeah, Maxwell is better for speed" but the real situation is that maxwell Not only has to deal with treeguards, but he ALSO has to deal with the fact that he's slower than woodie at clearing the trees out before they turn into elders and shadows are unpredictable and defiant.

@@SnotLover-ur8tsthis is big brain time: woodie chops more trees in a short time but maxwell can pick up as he goes but in reality woodie got more wood quicker he just cant pick it up while hes beaver. hand woodie a lazy foreger in the late game and its a bit extreme, but he might be able to suprass bearger in this form if hes beaver for the entire gathering time then equips the foreger.
