The Maple Burl with the red and gold resin from a year ago is gorgeous. I'm not a wood turner but I am an artist and I really love the different figures in the woods and burls, and the resins just blow me away.

The horizon line adds depth to the mountains the burl creates. This is a natural landscape. Lovely!

I like how the gold gives the red more dimension to it and gives it varying shades! It's basically vermillion. It's like fire or dragon scales! Absolutely beautiful!

Tape the outside of the folds and glue the inside folds, marbles make fun patterns as well as a good barrier. Stunning piece 🥰

Incredible!! While I was getting my art degree, focusing heavily in woodworking, as we advanced each semester we had to use a different machine and the semester for turning was tons of fun. Unfortunately I never got the chance to try turning a bowl, but I love watching you do it. You’ve obviously got tons of experience and your work with combining different colors with the wood it’s awesome. Awesome job. I look forward to watching more.

Oh Jim, I believe this masterpiece is my favorite. Red is my favorite color and that burl wood is absolutely gorgeous! This turned out unbelievably fantastic… to think the fight you had with the resin when it came out of the pressure pot was overwhelming, it’s freaking amazing! Great job!!

A thought. You could always use a rubber strip around the end then put your screw clamp on top of the rubber strip to protect the plastic. This is a lovely bowl! Thanks for sharing!

I commented too soon. I used to use shopping bags. Same result. Leaks. I have used various sized garbage bags and don't have any leaks now.

Jim they keep getting better, love that bowl. You might try putting a couple of holes in the bottom of the bucket on the sides so the pressure can equalize top and bottom around the plastic. Make sure the top rim of the mould bucket doesn't seal around the pressure pot, Also let the air in very slowly so it has time to get below the rim and under the plastic. Richard

I figured there was enough gaps so the air pressure can equalize in the bucket but you might be right, drilling a couple of holes in the sides might help. I just didn’t want to put any holes in this bucket because I use it also for casting. I don’t usually show it but I always pressurize really slow. Thanks

I've been working on making a set of carbide tools. I have finished turning the handles and bought the steel bars and carbide cheers but I still have to grind the steel to set the cutters and then drill and tap them. I bought 1 roughing tool and after getting it I thought, "I can make these for half the price" is been a fun project so far. Setting the cutters may be a different story.
