"It builds character." That is the phrase I came to HATE when I was in the Army. Bruh, just tell me it sucks and it's pointless and I'm just having do something because an unqualified person seven ranks above me made a decision. Don't lie to me and say "It builds character." If the amount of things in the Army that were SUPPOSED to "build character" actually DID build character, I would be a level 47 necromancer with a focus on damage manipulation.

Your rebuttal is a love letter to the person, be it commander, supervisor, or hiring authority, years in the future when you're answering for it. Gives you an opportunity to provide context because in the future nobody will know wtf was going on at the time.

I actually have seen a rebuttal result in the article 15 being dismissed...only to be replaced by a commander LOR and an admin separation. The rebuttal destroyed the commander's argument for discipline and showed everyone the article 15 was BS, so the butthurt commander used dishonest means to get rid of him another way.

You got this shit spot on! I'm retired now, but when I was a FC/FL my SSgt's troop received his article 15, I remember the Commander being nervous stuttering his words, and looking confused as hell. I don't understand why a person receiving an article 15 does a rebuttal. You are still going to receive an article 15. A lot of stuff that happens in Security Forces does not make sense to me.

If you’re accepting an Art 15, may as well get your side of the story on the record too. Though I get it, I’ve gotten paperwork that I decided “fuck it” and didn’t write rebuttals either.

"You can't go to school." - Wait what? I've been out for too long, can someone fill me in? When I was in they were trying to push everyone to get a degree, "you can't make tech without at least an associates or your CCAF", and now they'll stop you from going to school while you're in?

in order to get school paid, you can't have an article. Idk how long it lasts but it definitely makes if harder for you.
