A Worcester PRV in less than 45mins? Impossible you say? Not if you have the right access!
With this method you can remove the cold connection off the scale reducer or isolation valve, or if the cold is straight piped then just turn off the mains, cut the cold and then remake up again with a compression coupling, or just add in your own isolation valve whilst you're at it.
This method will only work as long as the boiler isn't rear-piped, as otherwise the return pipe usually sits behind the PRV and can make it difficult getting it out and new one in.
I'd advise investing in 11" long nose pliers. You can get a set of 4 with different angles off eBay for around £10ish so definitely worth getting for your toolbox.

Hi, I suppose the video is to explain how to replace the PRV? The old PRV was only blocked with some grit, could you not have opened and closed, the old PRV in place to flush out the grit, a few times maybe whilst running the filling loop? More grit would still be in the system to cause further problems.

We've got a constant leak from our PRV discharge pipe so I may need to do this. Would this also cause the hot water to go cold mid way through running? We're having issues with hot water stopping running hot and going stone cold.

@cliftonpoynter5605
@cliftonpoynter5605 3 жыл бұрын
Yes i saw that Brendan, however, if a prv wont stop dripping at all, all the twisting the red lever wont do a thing. The video we saw I think was for a prv that had opened and jammed open.

Would this issue cause the boiler to lock out repeatedly? I have the Worcester Greenstar 28i Junior and it keeps locking out out periodically. No loss in pressure, condensate is fine, expansion vessel ok Great video btw🤛🏻
@cputilitysolutions
@cputilitysolutions 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, no it wouldn't cause it to lockout, only to drop pressure. When it locks out, have a look at the sequence of flashing lights and follow the Fault guide in the manual and it should give you an indication of what it could be

So if it is rear piped going up it is still easy enough to take PRV out?
@cputilitysolutions
@cputilitysolutions 3 жыл бұрын
If it's rear piped then this method may not work as the return pipe is usually piped up directly behind the PRV so you don't have that space behind to pop it out. I'll be uploading another video shortly of taking the pump out and going in from the front to do this when you have a rear pipe situation 👍🏽

Ours is playing up it’s not giving us hot water when we need it it keeps turning back to cold all the time. also the pressure gauge keeps dropping to zero. it’s not down to me to fix it it’s down to the stingy landlady but when she calls the engineer out to look all he does is turn the red valve to on then off and goes home thinking it’s fixed the issue when it hasn’t. time to complain again.

@CP Utility Solutions Hi we are based in Hertfordshire. can you tell me is it safe to leave that red lever on or does it have to be off? It’s the one that makes the pressure dial move back from zero to normal levels. I turn it on every morning so the pressure goes back to normal then I turn it back off. The pressure then goes back to zero after about an hour of the lever in the off position. it’s odd because we get hot water in the bathroom sink on command but in the kitchen it only comes out warm for a brief few seconds then back to cold but if I go in the bathroom and run the hot tap for a few seconds it then becomes hot in the kitchen and we can wash up. Both tapes are very close like in the next room. The shower turns cold too and it’s not an electric one. my girl friend doesn’t like to complain to the landlady as we have done already a few times and she sends this chap out who tells me to turn the pressure lever to on then off and it will fix the issue then he’s off but It doesn’t last. I will make another complaint to the landlady as it needs to be sorted.
