Friends, I'm grateful to my friend Ben Shapiro for inviting me back on his show to discuss the Eucharist, Christianity’s Jewish roots, and the Kantian reduction of religion to ethics. The Eucharist has deep Jewish roots, and when we divorce the sacrament from these roots and tradition, it becomes easier to see it as only a symbol. But we must remember there is an embodied quality to the Eucharist and to religion in general.

I love that a Jew and a Catholic can have an honest, respectful conversation regarding faith. As a Catholic, I truly appreciate Ben Shapiro and is desire to discuss these things. Ben actually inspired my desire to reconnect with my Catholic faith. I am beholden to him for this. My life is much more meaningful. So thank you Ben.

@@markwilkie7633 exactly I could never be Sola scriptura aka protestant when it says clearly in 2Thessalonians 2:15 that there are teachings that were passed on by word of mouth. Duh Obviously! The deposit of faith has always been an important key element. Tradition plus The Word, both. How could we neglect and ignore that entire part of our faith? That's like missing 50% of the information...No thanks. If you look to the Orthodox and Catholic Church, both go back to the beginnings of Christianity, to the teachings of the Apostles, passed on by The Early Church Fathers, this was all set in place for us to be fully reverent and fully worship God. Not rock concerts and random nonsense preaching... But a beautiful richness involving tradition and scripture, clearly lacking in all other man made denominations who translate scripture however they please. If anything it should tickle everyone that Protestants claim sola scriptura yet they follow an incomplete bible. Martin Luther removed a bunch of the Bibles original books, and added words to the bible. He almost succeeded in removing New Testament work too, based on his ideology. I mean who was he to decide what was inspired to go in the bible? The Early Church Fathers in The Catholic Church had already chosen what was inspired, Scripture that existed in The Church for 1500 years. And if you include the Old Testament Scripture which existed amongst the Jews for thousands of years more. Suddenly it's not important enough to be there per Martin. He reinvented the bible, and that wasn't a red flag to everyone? I could never trust that. I'm sticking with The Early Church Fathers!

Huge thanks to Shapiro for this. For an Orthodox Jew listen to a Bishop tell him all about the fulfillment of the Old Testament and not yell “nope” is truly brotherly love in action. Peter Kreeft is quoted saying: when there’s a maniac at the door, feuding brothers unite. Peace loving people uniting is so beautiful and hopeful… especially in a mad world. Quran says Allah is “Al-Ahad”(one/indivisible).Deductively, It is impossible for perfection to have parts. Not just the Quran(preserved), but also the old/new testament(not preserved) textually scream oneness of Allah. So, then why believe in trinity and associate two imaginary parts to Allah(one/indivisible/self-sufficient/all-loving)?How could your love/worship be undivided/exclusive only for Allah(the most Exalted) when there are two other equally unique/perfect entities? If three entities are distinct and co-equal/co-eternal, then How do you define “Trinity” as one/undivided (“Al Ahad”)?
@moonlightravel
@moonlightravel Жыл бұрын
@@MorallyResponsible you have asked many questions, and all of them can be answered if you research Christian theology and apologetics. many other Christians have answered your questions in better ways than i could. the Bible does teach about God being one, and He is. the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are in complete unity. thats why Jesus in John 10:30 says "I and the Father are one." if you replace the words "the Father" with "God" (since muslims claim when Jesus talked about the Father He was talking about God, which is true) He would be calling Himself God. so by worshiping Jesus, you are worshipping the Son and Father with/through the Holy Spirit. worshipping Jesus is worshipping the one true God. John 6:40, “For it is my Father's will that all who see His Son and believe in Him should have eternal life. I will raise them up at the last day.” and your claim that the quran is preserved (assuming you mean perfectly) is historically untrue. copies of ancient quotations and texts relying upon ancient copies of the quran have shown that dramatic variations in text existed. even muslim scholars have admitted to qurans differing in different parts of the world. muhammads best teachers and reciters couldnt even agree on which chapters were supposed to be in the quran. one of muhammads companions, abu musa, said that the early muslims forgot two chapters due to laziness.

According to the Quranic/Philosphical principle of "Al- Ahad": Perfection has to be one/indivisble/unchanging. 3 Absolute perfections cannot exist. But I agree they should do more in terms of catechizing us their flock. I didn't have to discover the Summa by chance after 25 years of being Catholic. I should've been taught some of the things I'm now learning on my own as an adult. My parents tried their best but the Church should do better to equip future parents starting when there're still teens. These two are respectful, smart for sure, and blessed by God and love God! It also shows that we have to be studied and well read and knowledgeable to have intelligent discussions! The loss of spiritual tradition begna to deteriorate with the boomers. The hippie generation rejected religion and traditional morality and as they created the Gen X and Millennial generations, we had zero guidance into anything spiritual. He kept a straight face because Jews don't practice Gnosticism! He Respects that Jewish Thinking and History doesn't stem from Gnostic Egyptian and Greek Mythologies like Christianity, which is what the Bishop was explaining. Christian roots are really Gnostic, they just Hijacked Judaism, but not the spiritual aspect. Jews can have the Holy Spirit as well and can be saved as it Objectively says in Deuteronomy and the Hebrew Psalms, Malachai, Job, Joel, Ruth, Isaiah, Esther etc. Aside from Fake Relics and Miracles, will we still believe in God and be moral, not just go through Rituals like Cut Flowers? Judaism represents Flowers STILL Growing in the Ground.

@@jrm_mrj2075 ILLITERACY played a HUGE role in development of church membership and acceptance of the constructed New Testament, as well as SOCIAL PRESSURE and being UNDER DURESS to be steamrolled. Jews are not Atheists! Accusing someone of not believing in God because they don't believe ALL aspects of Jesus is crazy. "Christians" not believing in God, but needing to believe in the "sleight of hand" shroud which a Bishop already told Pope Clement in 1390 was being used for Pilgrimages to MAKE MONEY and wring MONEY from poor ILLITERATE peasants is Wicked and Atheist. Needing to BELIEVE in Fake Relics like Veronica's Veil and the Tilma show a lack of FAITH in God's Creation and a mere Heathen, Pagan belief in Occult/Gnosticism/Catholicism. I believe in God. So does Ben and the Bishop, and Judaism teaches belief in God without teaching the Deception of Occult Medieval Codex Relic Idols.
