Join me in Ep5 as I show you what it’s like to operate a tower crane when the weather up at 65m (213ft) isn’t so great, in extreme foggy weather conditions
In this video I show you just a small portion of what it’s like to work in extreme weather conditions like think fog, thankfully with this crane there is a Block Cam system in the cab and I rely on my Slinger/Banksman to work safely
This is just some of the conditions I have to work in on a daily basis and I will show you other situations such as heavy rain, wind, thunderstorms and much more, thankfully the fog did lift not long after I started and cleared up to be a beautiful sunny day
Music by Epidemic Sound - www.epidemicsound.com/music/f...
Footage was filmed in HD 1080p 50fps using a GoPro Hero 9 Black with a Max Lens Mod attached and using official GoPro accessories

Another good vid . Question , have you ever been on a tower crane on the top of a building as it’s going up
@cranecrazy
@cranecrazy Жыл бұрын
Nope, most cranes like that are in the USA or Australia as they use a specific type of crane called a Kangaroo tower crane ie meaning it jumps up from inside the lift shaft on hydraulic rams
@MrCalldean
@MrCalldean Жыл бұрын
What are the other types of cranes on the site called? Can you operate them or do you need different training for that type? What's the reason for the different types?
@cranecrazy
@cranecrazy Жыл бұрын
Right ok, the other 2 cranes are called Luffing Jib cranes and yes I have operated all 3 cranes on this site !! Yes you do need a license to operate both type or cranes and they operate pretty much the same way, I will show you this in a video when I can, Luffing Jib cranes are used primarily when space on a building site is tight

Hey Andy, if you ever get allocated to operate a Jaso J168HPA or Jaso Hydro-luffing series, do you intend on including it on the channel? I see these types of Jasos all over the place now and it’d be interesting to see a video from an actual operator

@@cranecrazy I thought that might be the case. So long as you don't drop the full bottle out the window!😄 Truck drivers often leave full bottles in laybys too. Might look like apple juice, but it certainly ain't. LOL I'm fortunate in my job as a coach driver, my vehicle comes with a toilet and sink on board! 😃

Is there a reason why these cranes aren't equipped with a lift to the cabin?
@cranecrazy
@cranecrazy Жыл бұрын
They have lifts on cranes in Germany lol, we don’t have them as it’s extra cost plus climbing a crane is the only exercise we get so having a lift would take that exercise away lol

Radio procedure seems a little sketchy! Surely it would be safer and easier to have each driver on a seperate radio frequency with a universal emergency frequency on a seperate radio that all are tuned to. Probably mean another radio in each cab, but must be better than the garbled, messages your riggers are transmitting ... just very confusing for the drivers! Just a thought.
