Working On Cars Doesn't Always Go To Plan Rant Alert
Making content for people to watch quite often relies on many different factors all knitting together. If something goes wrong or problems arise, us creators still have to provide content. With all that said, some people think that we should know everything or do things their way. Certain things are out of my control and I also make mistakes but one thing is for sure, everything I show in my videos will evoke a reaction with some people. For whatever reason, some people don't like what I do and leave harsh personal comments. I do have a right to reply and rant as I see fit about these people. I also have a zero policy for certain people who are nasty and they just get blocked but I also welcome constructive criticism but won't tolerate hate comments. Just a little rant to let off steam after a bad day.

Don't forget to put rant alert warning before your rants, that's the best part 😆😆😆 We all have those days, all set, and in the mood, to get on with some job or project, only for it to be scuppered by someone else's lazy incompetence, like selecting and sending the wrong part or just the bloody weather. The craftsmanship, honesty and skill of the channel is inspiring and we are lucky to have you inform and entertain us, and you and your family deserve all the success your work hard and work smarter ethic brings to your table, thank you Martin 👌

Martin, can i just say - whether you remember or not is another story but you used to help me a lot with support for the t-shirt printing 5-6 years back, thats how i started watching all manner of things be it retrorestore, butlers empire, keeping up to date with Gary's channel (crap it man haha!) Jimmy's body shop on facebook or Tracey's hair salon... there's no filter with you guys, you're genuinely all knowledgeable, entertaining people who frankly people are going to look at or nit pick certain things because of a few reasons... you're not wrong when you call some people stupid because they are... but i think the main thing they get negative about is because they get jealous. You guys have love, a real genuine heart and many thousands of us enjoy watching you guys, I've certainly learnt a lot but you have helped me no end when I've been struggling with my own life with anxiety and depression. Keep it up mate and much love to you all

I'm enjoying this run of videos on the old Mk4 but keep an eye on those Chinese calipers, they are a good price but both rears that i bought from ebay ended up leaking so i ended up buying some good used GSI turbo ones from C S Autos, if your keeping Vauxhall's for a bit you might want to invest in an Op-com reader too, cheap but apparently reads it all (once i get mine sorted :)

Hi matey. I hope this helps you out. I have two Autels machines and both are fantastic. I have the smaller one which is the Maxidiag MD808Pro and the bigger one which is the MaxiCheck MX808.With the MX808 I was able to program a new ECU on my old Vauxhall Meriva on a 2007 plate. The MX808 is packed solid with stuff you can do. If your going to get anything from Autel, they have a fantastic You-Tube channel where they go through all of the functions of their machines. When I was able to program that ECU I then realised what a worth wile buy it was. Since then I have used it on many different cars and never been disappointed. There are now newer machines available but until mine blows up I will continue using it until I no longer can. Would not mind their latest as there's nothing they cant do but when it comes to tools, I am like a kid in a sweet shop. I cant say NO....

You do a good job of bringing in different projects on your channel to keep it fresh which can't be easy. How many channels that have been doing just lawn mowers for years, how many times can you watch someone strip a carb down which with mowers is 90% of the problem. Keep up the good work you do on your channel Martin your doing a great job and the odd rant is very entertaining as well 😉

Absolutely spot on again Martin. 20,000 experts with 20,000 views and my opinion Martin is the same as you. Your entitled to rant sir you let em know. I had an Irmscher kitted Astra H a 54 reg as well if I remember and the reason i sold it was everything I ordered was just like you and the wrong part always turned up. I got fed up sending stuff back and forth. I had to do the car as a Opel even though it was Vauxhall badged and the parts which I thought Opel being German actually started coming from Spain. In the end it was taking up so much time I sold it. It was a great car though. This was back about 2010. The Landscaping though tell me about it. Our forecast last week was wet and windy all week. We probably had an hours rain and only one windy day. As always sir a pleasure to spend some time in your company.

Love your videos, ebay sellers are a nightmare with car parts, I have either had faulty parts or the wrong ones. Oh the trouble with eBay tracked returns is its up to 2kg in weight so you have to contact the seller and wait then get ebay involved when the seller doesn't respond and wait again

The compatability checks are rarely accurate. I had a similar issue with a set of wheel nuts. They were sent to me for one price and when I came to return them the price 'went up'? Weird that? Also, it you are keeping the Astra consider OPCOM for your diagnostics?

Try to find an OpCom or a china clone of it. It´s a USB unit and you need a laptop to use it, but it can do anything the original Opel Tech2 can do. Especially for Opel/Vauxhall before ´99 this thing is essential, before they implemented OBD2. Got me one when my ´98 Vectra B had some issues (crankshaft/camshaft sensors), read out everything, troubleshooting was easy. Lost one key a little later, went to a dealer, got me a new one. They told me, "Wait, we have to code it into the car!" (which would´ve had set me back another 70€), but I said, "No thanks, can do that myself!". They said it´s impossible. Carrying the laptop to the car and setting it up nearly took more time then the coding itself.

Absolutely loved that video cosI have identical rants based on very similar issues. Our (I'm a similar age to you) problem is, and these were your issues, we simply won't accept the failings of technology, that we've been repeatedly told saves us time. No it doesn't!! Back in the day, a motor factor would get you the right calipers and you wouldn't need to plug your car in if it had a carb and points! Younger generations accept this is the correct way, they know no different and I feel truly sorry for them. You're patio laying will be fine mate, cos it's using old techniques that still serve us well, and the last time I looked, a cement mixer doesn't have an OBD port on it 😂😂😂

Martin, I had a front caliper seize on my Astra G. I freed it off the first time. The 2nd time, I ended up replacing the caliper which was sourced from a local motor factor. eBay can be hit and miss at times. I'm sure Leon of Bodgit & Leggit reviewed a similar model of Launch scan tool (CRP129E) to your's and he didn't think much to it. VAUX-COM is the one to get and is the next best thing to the factory scan tool. I wish I'd bought mine when I still had the Astra. I recently bought the ThinkOBD 100 code reader and it is better than the £10 scan tool I bought on Amazon last year.

people will always say what they want, and so will you. end of the day its your house and your rules, they don't have to like it , its not compulsory. Try not to let them bait you, you're better than that. thank you for sharing with us I for one totally love what you do, Brilliant mate thanks.

Martin, I understand the frustration with the parts, but I even had wrong ones few years back off a vauxhall parts website. I'd be interested in how you updated the crp123, I cant figure mine out. I too quite fancy the autel but whatever I get eventually I want it to be able to do more such as battery reset and dpf injector coding etc. On Ebay I've seen a Delphi tablet with a software like auto data too. I'm not able to justify it yet but think that's called wow. Anyway good luck with patio and screw the haters.

It was a right pain Rob, There is online instructions but they are not very clear. I didn't get it right on the first few attempts.

Hi martin, just was watching your video, And i remember replacing pads on my sisters astra in (australia) and i had to screw the piston in, dont think its your normal push in style caliper.

Getting wrong parts sent is a massive pain in the bum and KZfaq is a funny old game sometimes , as I get some bizarre comments and also get some angry people telling me that I shouldn't do it like that. Anyway I enjoy everyone of you videos so cheers.

Some you win, some you lose. On the subject of those calipers I think you don't want them on your car anyway as they look like nasty Chinese copies. The best compromise I have found is to buy some second hand Ate/Girling calipers and recon them yourself. Then you haven't got the car off the road for long. Don't forget to change the flexi hoses, they're getting ancient by now.

i feel that, best is, when they know they sell parts that do not fit they dont even change it, they just sell it and hope people are too lazy for complain

The ebay compatibility thing is utterly useless many a time it’s said no it won’t fit and like you guess what it was the correct part, lucky you have no hair Martin because of late you would have pulled it out 😂. You are totally correct if they don’t like what you do they can feck oft. Cracking video tho as per usual 💪🇬🇧

Like you say Martin them behind the counter at ECP don’t know nothing .. amount of times I’ve been stuck behind folks that have taken parts in and said “can I have one of these” only for the cashier to look at them gone out lol

The patio is looking good Martin thoroughly enjoy your videos and appreciate the time and effort you put into making them. I was going to say on your car were you had the diagnostic machine plugged in and it was coming up comms error, has someone in the past maybe disconnected the data lines in the back of the dash or fitted a dummy obd connector as I know people who have done this to stop people knocking cars.
