I have always made sure to get all the plastigage off!! Ya, it's plastic, but it's hard once squished.. and can wear on the bearing, if not on the shaft.. it was beat into my head to get it all off.. so, I always get it cleaned up..

Interesting. I've never worked on a Cummins. Rebuilt a lot of gasoline engines, not too many diesels.

Yea the parts are just a little heavier! I started when I had to rebuild the engine in my Oliver after rebuilding a few Alis Chalmers Bs and a WC. Thanks for watching Pete

i agree....remove the plastiguage. i dont wanted accumulating in the oil passages. that block is nice and clean. one step closer!

Yea it's only wax but I don't want any chance of starving a bearing of oil ! Get it out!

Are you doing any performance mods to the old 12 valve or are you keeping it pretty much stock?

@@cesmith4566 catch 22.. you don't feel like doing it.. but if you do, you'll feel better.. and help keep some sense of normalcy for people... Life is still going on..

@@cesmith4566 when my wife was recovering from her heart surgery I wanted to go outside and work on that tractor really bad but I felt like just as soon as I got out there and got my hands all oily she'd need me and I'd have to stop and clean up. So I just waited until she was better able to take a little bit of care of herself. Hard to wait some times but required when you can't be in two places at once. I enjoyed the video 👍🧰
