There's been so many great games already this year. Normally the first couple of rounds are generally dull with the odd good game thrown in, but this year its completely the opposite. Some absolute belters including games on paper that didn't excite, such as Dolan v Mansell and Edhouse v De Graaf. Then you've got the drama of the high number of seeded players to have fallen, the emergence of Luke Littler, Stephen Bunting looking like prime Phil Taylor, the wild comebacks from De Graaf an Hempel, and the great displays from the Asian players, and it's been terrific. And we haven't even properly talked about the big boys yet. This has the potential to be the best WC ever.

PDC should have their own womens world championships before the world's and the winner gets in, apart from that the rest should have to qualify for it by normal means. Let the women's game grow the women's game

At last, someone who talks sense. In the short term its been great for marketing and growing interest in the game. But that will fade the more they just keep losing in the first match, and will no longer be effective. Its too small a pool of Ashton, Greaves, Sherrock and Suzuki, cycling between the Grand Slam and the Worlds, so it makes no sense to offer additional places. Women need their own tournaments in the longer term, they shouldn't have to compete with men to earn a living.

for what it's worth, the PDC could just rename their Women's World Matchplay and call it Women's World Championship if they desperately wanted one but I think they are right not to have one because their end goal is to have men and women play together

The women’s game needs to have more strength in depth first. There really only Beau Greaves that can give the men a proper game at the moment. Maybe with a bit more incentives they could get there at some point in the future.

Matt I have to hand it to you for having the stones to make your predictions. Personally I’ve been watching littler for a couple years and I knew what he was capable of so I’m not shocked, maybe a little surprised that he’s been so strong in his matches but I don’t doubt he can go all the way in this event. 0:06 Being Canadian I’ll be cheering for Matt tomorrow and I expect it’s going to be a good game, so I’m hopeful that Campbell can get over the line but I’m thinking he may come up a little short this year.

For me, the most outstanding story is actually the one about Luke Littler. Admittedly, I only watched the first few minutes of the youth final against Gian before the World Championship and didn't find him that impressive. But now I've seen both of his games in full and I have to say: the kid already has what it takes to play a big role at the very top: He plays super averages, is frighteningly good on doubles, he can handle the crowd and he is also modest in interviews, but also knows his qualities - and weaknesses. To be honest, it's certainly still too early for him to become world champion, but I can definitely see him in the last 8 - with a bit of luck even further. In general, I'm very curious to see how things will go from tomorrow. My tip: this year we will have a world champion that nobody had on their radar. At least for me, the favorites haven't really convinced me that they really want the title.

Luke Littler is the story. He is 16! He clearly has talent, but it would be so easy on this stage at that age to bottle it and throw a 60 average on the biggest stage in the game. Especially against a former BDO world champ and a guy who won a major in the last 12 months. Im amazed it hasnt got as much attention as Sherrock got.

@rahmatramadhan9874 7 ай бұрын
Yeah, for the ladies, quota is alright at the moment. The only thing now is to wait for the standard to improve (and as PDC supports them, the improvement will be sooner rather than later). Only issue is PDC prohibiting Beau from playing both - I can understand if it's the men's being prohibited, but PDC doesn't even do a Women's WC! Luke Littler is insane. Goto and Leung are awesome, up the Asian darts! Also, question: Were the players given a choice to either use the Paddypower logo or Prostate Cancer UK, or was it more of a legal/lawyer thing?

@@Edgartvdarts I've seen the Dutch interviews with Kleermaker. I can tell you he won't change his mind on this matter, things are very emotional and personal, he took his kids with him to the Grand Slam, making them skip school for a week, because he knew the Grand Slam would be his final tournament. He didn't have the confidence he'd make the Worlds, and he had peace with that. After his 4-5 defeat to Sherrock [in the Grand Slam] he actually cried during his interview with The Feather because he felt that he was disappointing his children. He's going to focus on his family, and has said multiple times while at ViaPlay Netherlands as an analist, that he's not going to keep his tourcard because it is impossible for him to balance/juggle act between the two, it's just not possible for him to do so, so his tourcard will be on the block, wether he's 64 or 65, it won't be his after the conclusion of the World Championship.

Female players in the worlds is a great thing. It will no doubt bring a highlight to their game, it will showcase the female side of darts. I don't think you can take the last few worlds as a benchmark to not increase the female players taking part. Luke Littler, plays in my local league, not played him but he is a fantastic player and the world is now seeing it this year. He's going far!! 1 game at a time though, just needs the experience with the only pressure being the next game!
